84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
@bergerking is going to help me weld the diffs up Thursday, I know I know.. I have a d70 on the side Ill build up for this some time, for now its on trail duty until the blazer is done.. then its onto tow duty.

Waste of a good tow rig. :pimp:

And at the rate the other project is getting done, you may have beat this thing all to pieces before the Blazer is ready... :dunno:

Manual transmissions and short wheelbases aggravate a welded rear in my experience. My current wheeling rig is welded rear with a 5 speed and it's a pain to park and maneuver in parking lots.

I drove the blazer for a really long time welded, it wasn't a big deal at all and with the lighter rear end I think the truck won't be a big deal as well, my 72 had a Detroit locker and it was a tow rig, if I was keeping this axle I'd consider it but the d70 can get that treatment.

So what... I saved this truck from its potential resting place, it has more miles than my other vehicles combined, it's not a creampuff or something super rare or special. But it's special to me because it takes me places, suits my style perfectly, looks cool doin it, suprises all along the way. I'm really good at keeping things in great or better shape even when abusing them.. Just takes a special hand along with some extra care.. Abuse for no reason isn't abuse.. It's not giving a crap.. Which I do. The truck has many miles left and many places to see..

Yes, the 6.2 is the right engine for your temperament.

:haha:

I just don't like the short wheel base.

Plus Mrk5 not only has a long bed, he has four doors.

My first truck was a long bed, and I have had several so to me I hunk longbeds are perfect, plug you can still put a full sheet of anything in the back. The wheelbase isn't that bad, the overhang is the issue.. I'll need to make a shorter bumper and move the hitch up some so it doesn't drag. And I've decided to just use a small 2 inch block in back. I don't want to lift it much more and is more a clearance thing at this point vs asthetics.

When you do your bumper any plans to maybe have it wrap around the bedsides? Maybe so it'll slide off obstacles better than the Lower portions of the bedsides.
