If it is an '83, GQ1 with C6P and LL4 (non EGR 6.2) is 3.73. It if did not have C6P (it would also have LH6, the 6.2 with EGR), GQ1 would be 3.42.

Looks like '84 is also 3.73 with C6P, LL4, and MM4 (SM465).

I was looking at non California. Went back and checked, as you are in California. Same answers, but it appears you had to order C6P in California, the lighter duty 3/4 ton was not available.

3.73s with the 6.2 and a stock tire should work well.
I love you guys.. Man that sure cleared up a lot of mysterys.
No complaints with mine on 31" rubber. Even with O/D. I think it's overgeared for a 1/2-ton cruising truck. Should fit a 3/4-ton rig just fine.
Dang, guess those small tires make the ratio seem deeper...

Though I personally can only think of one civilian truck that didn't have one. Completely stripped down 1987 C10 (is it R10? @82355) with a V6 and a 3-on-the-tree. AM radio, no dome light or switches, only defrost/floorboard heat. No interior trim, no headliner, etc. It was a pretty bare truck. And the engine compartment was quite empty.
