84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
My 90 K5 has no headliner. It came with one option group when it was new...auto trans, tilt, cruise, delay, other than that a completely plain truck.
 
That one I don't have. Or any plastic trim either. Just sun visors bolted to the metal top. lol.

I have that too (in my military rig). But it's a little more stripped down than a base-model civilian unit. Aside from NVH issues, the metal interior is kinda neat in a quirky, unique way. :wink1:
 
Had a busy weekend, helped @secutright install a sweet exhaust system, replaced a bad Lowe balljoint on this grey k20 along with picking up @bergerking k5 to start the trans swap.

Scott and I successfully performed a spinning tire (both) launch wi the diesel, but it wouldn't keep that going into 2nd.. I'll resolve that problem later, but this morning as I was getting trash picked up for the dump run me and my boy opened the gate and as I let the clutch out the pedal just dropped.. Good thing we're in Low!! Going nowhere fast, I pulled it out of the way to look at later, Liam and I proceeded to change that ball joint and once that got done momma came home so I could check out this clutch issue, which me being the dummie I am forgot to put the return spring on the linkage. Doh! Put that back and it was back in business. One other weird thing, it's getting hard to start, it was 80 today and I had a really hard time getting it to light. I played around with it more tonight but the batteries where not having it.
I think there is two problems, glow plug relay doesn't cycle as much as it was which makes me thing it's wiring or a bad ground, and the file filter is leaking at the bottom. I'll pickup a new filter because that might be killing the prime on the fuel system and once I get it lit and in my driveway I'll get into this wiring..

Anyone know what grille this is? I'd like to find one of these to replace mine.

It looks like a normal pre-'85 grille to me. But I'm not an expert in this area.

IMO, these two issues are the annoyingest part of dealing with these engines. Get them both out of the way and you just might fall in love with the truck. :D
 
I just want that style, I looked in lmc truck and there is a difference in 84-85 and I see my headlights are not the dual version.. So confused..

I already love it, I just need it to start reliably.. I already plan on this for DD duty.
Gonna be weird to park the Vw for this beast. 100 miles a day it should eat that up no prob..
