84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Tires tommorow! I also did out some leafs to lift it some.. Gotta get the center pins before I get into it.

Ran outa height.. Still have 4-5 inches left for droop.. Should work good as soon as I can get it to hold up.. image.jpeg

So the Deavers you have basically give you almost no lift but lots more travel and a lot softer ride? I've never had any experience with them other than seeing them in the magazines.

Correct, these are not even close to being the correct spring for my application but free is free, they should be worth all my shocks can handle, which is 9 inches I think. They ride awesome compared to any lift spring I've used. If I had ponied up for the right springs they would perform similar to @Deuling and @sponsoredbydad trucks. Those are a testament to excellent performance from a leaf.

Got the rears on, I love this look, it's perfect. All of my other trucks had wider offsets so they look really wide, which is fine but I really like these on this truck and the way it looks.. Stoked beyon 100000!

Also got the truck up high enough to pull the packs apart, I have 3-4 springs I am going to try, all I am shooting for is level or a tad higher and that's it..
I also need a pinion shim so that'll get ordered as soon as I know what I'll need. And maybe some limit straps. And some cheap shocks.

Finally have proper fuel caps.. This is really annoying, I didn't want to have someone accidentally gas up my truck and not realize it, so I figure the green cap should help.

If I get this back together I should have some nice flex pics later on.

1.) Your front driveshaft looks broken. :wink1:

2.) Your fuel filler doors should be marked for diesel fuel. IIRC, I have markings on 2 of my fuel caps but not the other 2.

So the Deavers were not complying and we ditched the idea because the amount of work it would cause just isn't worth it.. Not for this purpose anyway.

I had the 6 inch lift springs from the grey truck, the only hitch was a shackle bushing that was stubborn.. Otherwise it went on just fine with the help of @bergerking, I could not have finished this without him.
It rides decent, not great but good enough. It's very very very smooth on the highway, these tires made this a different truck and the springs and steering also made it feel very tight. Overall I'm happy with the outcome.

Thanks @bmxbryant9
I flexed her out in the yard here, wife bailed with the car seat or me and bubbs woulda gone exploring..
image.jpeg
We got her up on the big rock and crawled straight up the face! I didn't think she would do it especially at street pressure (50lbs) but a little clutch and throttle and she popped up no problems. image.jpeg

Was there something wrong with the ride that the Deavers provided, or was it just a height issue?

The deavers cause the pinon angle to be terrible at droop, also just so much bending and weird crap going on with the leaves that I really didn't see it worth totally trashing my truck and leaves to make it work..

Also with the notion that links will be on this by the new year.. Not worth the crap. Plus this is good enough for now, almost to the point I wish I woulda done this in the first place. Live and learn I guess.
