84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Yes I have the flex fuel injectors, and I might play with that at a later date. And @bent72 i am waiting for the fuel pump etc to fire it up. Plus the harness needs to have power etc spliced in.
When are you dropping it in the frame rails?

Got the harness trimmed down and ready for standalone duty, because there were no pinouts available for some of these harness plugs I had to work backward and off two pinout sheets. This is a 2013-14 lmf harness. It was new from a Chevy express 1500.
I worked off the lt1swap.com list which pretty much was spot on aside a few areas which total might have been 3-4 wires.

Starting around 5pm today

I am a little OCD and wanted to know exactly where all these damn wires went. So I removed all of the loom.

As I got more familiar with the color scheme and pinouts I back traced most of the unknowns then clipped them out one by one verifying they were not tied into something needed.

Once I got past the brake and instrument panel plugs I eliminated all the tcm wiring. There was a lot of back and forth for this one because of the dash indicators and brake pressure inputs for the trans.

Laid out on the floor of the garage.

The harness originally exited the front of the motor because it was in a van, which isn't gonna work for a squarebody. I rerouted that to the side, it should fit on the driver side just fine. I'll reloom it one I have added the pedal sensor plug and the vss plug for the trans.

I like the cloth tape or the fancy woven loom. Normal loom just looks like shit when you redo an entire engine harness.
I actually was trying to find a source for the better expanding loom or something that will make this more compact.. up for suggestions?? Del city is who we normally use.

Friend of mine gets his all from waytek, I haven't needed any loom for awhile or that's likely where I'd have ordered mine as well.

Engine and wiring is looking good!

Ok monday night I finished up my order of stuffs, got the Maf coming, bolts for flywheel which are longer, bellhousing because the others are std. Novak's clutch bracket, O2s, the 241 VSS stuff etc..

I also put the Hyd pedal in the truck with some spacers but after reading hydro swaps that might have been a mistake, looks like those support rods are what holds the master in.. arhggghh I hate dealing with under dash work because I really dont fit under there very well, so might be taking the whole damn dash out again.. I guess its not terrible because I can really clean the wiring up like I wanted to. Since my all my stock gauges are going to be useless now.

Why won't your stock gauges work with the 5.3? Just don't want to do the work to make them work? Mine all work with a couple adjustments. The 5.3 oil pressure gauge works with the stock cluster. Voltmeter pulls power from the stock harness for it's value. The temp sender is the only tricky one. Using a 3 wire sensor from a F-body LS1 is the easiest, as the two wire side works for the ECM value and the single wire left goes to the cluster. Or what I did was take a stock 350 temp sensor (which is way bigger than the metric pipe threaded hole on the 5.3 head) and have a buddy turn it down and rethread it to fit. One sensor in the stock location runs the ECM value and my modified unit is for the cluster.

Fuel gauge should still work and I thought you were looking at converting the 241 to a have a VSS?

I can get them all to work if they were good, Ive had some issues with the oil pressure gauge so that is bad already, the speedo bounced like crazy almost unusable and i have swapped that out, the vss eliminates the mech speedo, the fuel gauge can stay but it swings a lot now, i think i found the issue with that. Ill mount my ipad in there for now until I can afford to do nicer stuff, Id like for it to all be canbus.. heck even a digital dash would be cool. I hate the stock wiring behind the dash anyway so any excuse to ditch it i am game.. so if i was to make it work I have two of the 5 that function.. seems like a waste.

I get it. Wasn't sure where your current gauge situation was sitting. By all means keep moving in the direction you are heading in. Just seen a lot of guys take stuff that worked prior to the swap complain they couldn't make it work to justify a flull blown autometer setup or dakota digital system.
