84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
I was talking to my neighbor about putting the 383 in the blazer and he is saving for a LS swap in his jeep. I told him im going to make some stickers for the blazer that say 6.3 LS. He said that aint no ls. I daid yeah it is, (little stroker)= LS. Lol

Felt motivated to do something after spending time around very fast trucks...
stabbed that heart in Ethel!! I had the motor mounts in the wrong position which caused some grief, I also had not cut the hole for the shifter back far enough. So after I resolved those issues it pushed back within 1/2 inch of the stock driveshaft location. I have one finger space between the firewall and the intake manifold.

You do have a much quieter engine up there now. It may not be too badly missed if you do remove it

I take the opposite approach. More quieter = more gooder. You can always add noise later with an exhaust bypass. But you can't add more quiet if you overdo things on that end.

But, no, I don't think he'll miss it either. He's trading in a yappy, excitable dog for a gently purring kitten.

Fixed

Keeps engine heat out of the cab. And keeps warmth inside the cab.

I like the extra insulation. Wish mine had the firewall matt. So instead it got a gallon of bedliner inside and several brushed on coats on the inner fenders and firewall.

How well did that work for noise abatement?

I would bet a more modern dynomat style adhesive heat/sound mat on the interior of the truck is more effective than the stock mat. If you ever removed one you would know what I mean.
Actually I kinda am as I go removing the old crusty stuff, it's just falling apart, I may go back in later if it's too warm. For now I just want the damn truck running.. friggen an setup for fuel lines is $200 or more.. I can't win dammit. I'm a little sketched out by using clamps..

Lol.

I also did about 1000$ in dynomat in it. Doors, roof and parts of the floor. Stuff isn't cheap but it works awesome. My doors sound like lead filled safes when they close. But I drove it before the dynomat as well. I will almost feel guilty completely cutting it up as time goes on.

Ice and water shield works awesome as well. The tar smell takes forever to dissipate though.
