84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
Must be all the humidity in the desert?
I've seen it. Even with low humidity if you go low on the fan speed but max cold on the temp there isn't enough airflow to blow the condensation off of the evaporator. Do that long enough and the condensation freezes. Yes even in low humidity condensation happens.

Classic symptom is the air flow decreases gradually to the point you have no airflow. Turn the temp up and in a little bit the evaporator thaws and airflow comes back.

Yeah I know. It just sounds like a good case of irony. When I was mining I would crack the heater valves on the equipment just slightly and it would keep things thawed out.

If it was a stock ac system it would have enough bleed through of heat in the heater core that freeze up is really rare unless you put a manual ball valve on the feed side of the core.

It was on one of these with a ball valve on the feed and return line. It was a horrible setup.

Makes sense though. I’ll have to play with it. The knob on the evaporator thermostat is easy to get to.. I went to far this afternoon and it wouldn’t come down past 50. So I am going to split the difference and see how it does tomorrow.

I am done with this damn stupid manual
I installed a new novak adjustable TOB and the fork AA sent with the Bellhousing along with the pushrod and wedge. I got it all lined up, set the freeplat at 1/8 like they say. Put it all back together to find out it still doesn’t disengage the clutch.. it’s much easier but the clutch does not release.
I measured on a 465 bellhousing they moved the pivot ball back .250 and the TOB ended up about that much longer. But they must have moved it out some because nothing had changed in this setup besides the bell and the sm465 bell worked perfectly. I triple checked the setup and re bled the clutch even.. called a few buddies even to check that I hadn’t forgotten something.. it just does not make sense.. there is no way the factory parts were working and now do not operate as they did.
So I tried guys I really did.. I’m so done with removing this trans and restabbing it..
the nv4500 is for sale along with all the crap.
I’m going 4l80 ASAP..
I got a base tune on a k5 we swapped a 6.0 on recently.. it has a Tilden 4l80e and it’s epic.. drives super nice in town even with a big cam and 3200 stall.. just push the go pedal and it does what it supposed to..

Booooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooooooooooocrapooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

You need a nv4500 for that awesome overdrive gear don’t you?!
How much you want for the whole nv4500 setup. I want it lol.
See, problem solved

And no. The only place I need OD with these 37s on the 4.10 is above 70. Only about 5-8% total drive use at that speed. Not much margin on utility

Oh wait a minute. I have 37s and 4.10.. maybe I dont need overdrive.. now you got me thinking..lol jk. I still want the nv4500

Mine runs 3000 at 80. Honestly run 65 most of the time due to traffic and terrain.
