84 K20 "Ethel" Not an Sbc/NV4500/241C

Semi restoration of a 1984 K20 pickup. 5.3 LS, nv4500, np241c.
I remember some bs like that with my swap. I lengthened my pushrod I think.

Mechanical clutch time

Seriously considered it but I do not have anything left from it..

So wait you had a mechanical clutch and swapped to hyrdro? Was it still mechanical when you ran it with the 465 bell housing? How did the clutch feel then? Did you replace the clutch at any point in all this swapping? If you went hydro then why not run a factory 4500 bellhousing?

I swapped to the nv and hydro at the same time but I had the sm465 bellhousing on the nv which I failed at mounting properly. The mech feel was very firm compared to the hydro which is literally like a Honda.. so easy and nice to drive daily.. same clutch and pressure plate and flywheel.
Driving home last night after it was put back together revealed that maybe I have a bad slave.. it was inconsistent.. sometimes it would disengage and sometimes it would not.. so I may look into that first so I don’t kill this throw out bearing also until I can get the parts and funds for the 4l80.

Sell the nv4500 and some funds will be there for the 4l80 ;) lol jk
Good luck and I really hope you do figure it out.

Ah okay. A bad slave or master could be your problem. Fingers crossed.

You said you bled it again to be sure. Have you tried unbolting the slave and exercising it by hand? Best way to bleed finicky hydro clutches.

That’s the next step. The slave is a cheap enough part to just buy and try.

Replaced clutch and slave and just took a test drive...

It freaking works!!! Yeasssssessssass dammit finally!!
I got my half stab clutch back right off the floor how I like it.. now to get used to this gear change.. it put the shift points lower..
good bday present

That totally eliminated the weird noises that mine was making too, nice job. Happy to see this truck stay awesome.
