have a need to add circuits to my fuse box as you know its hard to get to.Are there any videos out there that will help show me how to add circuits?
 
In an '84? You may be better off looking into adding an auxillary fuse panel.

You are going to want to fuse each circuit seperately most likely, and if it's more than a couple, you'll run out of power taps pretty quickly.

Additionally, if some need constant 12v and others need ignition 12v, you are talking relays and more complex panels anyway.

But it is absolutely, 100% worth it to do right. You can get by with scotch locks, and a rats nest of wiring, until something goes wrong. Ask anyone that's had to undo a POs previous wiring hack job how much fun that is.

For one or two small draw circuits, sure, I'd say tap off the panel as GM designed to be possible. But outside of that, it ends up being a mess, and often improperly wired. Nothing you can do with the stock panel to really add capacity that makes a lot of sense...they are physically limited by wire gauge and the number of terminals available to use.
 
I literally ripped every single wire out of my 77. I found wiring harnesses for an antilock break system (which it never had...), TWO different EFI harnesses AND I have an old school Quadra jet. There was a power cable that could have ran current for the Space Shuttle and 5 different grounds.

I just pulled and cut everything out. Gonna start 100% new.

Sorry, don't know any videos, although there always seems to be, for whatever you are doing.

If you look at your fuse panel face (where the fuses go), you'll likely see a few single pin empty "sockets" seemingly randomly scattered about. GM used the same plugs from at least the early 80s until the 90s at some point to power various accessories. The plugs are keyed , but you can probably still find them on any GM within that year range in wrecking yards, so cut off a few with each key design (I want to think the plugs are color coded too?) from donor vehicles, and you should have something to start with.

But...how much juice do the power seats draw? If it's a fair bit (I'd guess 10A or more) then you very well may overload the panel, which would require you to add a relay and fuse setup.

I doubt the 700 will draw much at all, but it's draw still needs to be factored in depending how you decide to wire things.
 
I gutted the dashboard today. There is no way that all of these wires were included on a 77 Blazer.

One part looked like an OBDII port.

No, that's definitely an ESC, CCC or TBI truck harness. Some nuance there, but doesn't matter unless you really care about fuel injection.

Far better panel in general than any earlier ones, all the single terminals plugged in up top, and all the empty ones, are spare 12v taps. There were significantly less on earlier design panels. Of course, still limited on what you can draw from them, but they will take a fair number of low draw circuits.

Well, it's unfunctional now. Hated to cut and tear it out but it had too many unnecessary connectors.
 
My 77 Jimmy has the old style glass fuses so I had very little additional circuits that I could add so I just added an additional fuse panel that I got from FleaBay. I figured by the time I added extra lights, an extra 12v socket or 2, and possibly power seats in the near future, that I'd run out on the stock panel so I ran an extra power lead from my 2nd battery for the 2nd panel. 2nd battery was basically there for the winch anyways but it did simplify the wiring actually.
