84 Optimized M1009

Highly modified CUCV
Got some CK5 bling custom made at a local Sticker Shop. They copied the image I gave them and spazed it out to match my Beadlock Rims. I’ll get them installed after the touch up paint job. They are 6”x6” I am a man of my word!

I had a very hard technical decision I had to make for the Lusty Winch… I liked them all so I put all 6 on.

The Clarion 6x9 rear speakers went poop and the boxes were trashed so I went searching on Facebook Marketplace and found some nice and cheap marine Samsons! The sound quality is amazing! I installed them right where the 6x9’s were. They would work great for the future roll cage.

Found out the wiring for the oil temp sensor broke off the plug. There does not seem to be any replacement plugs except a harness/sensor. Gonna call Autometer and see if they have any. The fixing never ends…

smart guy like yourself should be able to repin that harness and make it work.

Or splice in another connector.. that's got to be a stock sensor, I have a hard time believing Autometer makes a proprietary unit....

I am going to try to take apart the old pins and see if some solder might do the trick without spending any cash. Autometer does make a different prong 1/8 npt sensor that would work with standard male pins.

I took the tiny tiny pins out, opened them up, took out old corroded wires, spliced the fresh side wires, crimped them to the pins, soldered them to the wires using liquid flux, put pins back in plug, installed plug to sensor, wrapped with electrical tape to prevent it from happening again any time soon and now it is like new!

Gave it a good test drive going 80mph up a 6% grade to make sure it works good.

Edit: This beast is soooo much more fun to drive with a 6.5 Optimizer Turbo compared to a N/A 6.2. If anyone is thinking about doing a turbo, you will for sure not regret it!

well, I'm buying a l29 454. Putting that in my 4x4 burb.

Then doing the diesel work. After my shoulder repair I'm picking up a job at the parts store. Employee discount and parts $$$. Lol

I was all set to buy that GEP motor, but this is too good to pass up

Nice! Whatever it takes to save the money and get what ya need at the same time!

Getting ready for paint, exo cage and rocker panel replacements, I took off the bushwhacker fender flares and Arb Snorkel permanently. They are for sale.

Since I had to remove the blower fan to get access to one of the Arb Snorkel bolts, I decided to upgrade the blower fan to an more quiet and efficient one. It bolted right up and all I had to do was swap the fan because the one that came with the upgraded unit was too long. After sanding off the old RTV gasket materiel, I put new blue RTV on to seal the blower fan.

I plan on spot welding, grinding and smoothing out the old rear flare screw holes and replacing the front fenders before the exo cage and paint job.

I have been busy dealing with the Yellowstone NP flooding, my work and rebuilding a customers 6.5 Optimizer on my days off. Because of this, I dropped off the Blazer at Freedom Four Wheel here locally and asked them to copy the Watsons K30 rocker panel mods. 1/8” sheet.

This helps a ton! No more rusty, rotted rockers and it will give more clearance for the rock sliders. I had to cut off the old rock sliders years ago to replace the body bushings. I ended up selling them because I have other plans.

Here’s progress pics.

Also got one quote so far on 1/2 of the exo cage. I am getting more quotes from other companies.

Took a trip up North Meadow in the Tobacco Root Mountains this weekend. Had a great time. Did some wheeling, shittin, campin, minin, rope swingin, swimmin, drinkin, shootin and sum fishin. I fixed the shitter box too!

The new oil cooler blew on the way down the mountain. Took 10 qts of oil to get it home.

Vids work on the work puter. Cool trip, I love mountains like those. I wish I was closer to Montana to do more trips up that way. You need to carry a hose or fittings to be able to bypass your cooler in the future, of course then it will never fail if you are prepared for it!

Work now.
Sweet! Man that water is clear!

It is big mountain Paradise!

New oil cooler showed up. Out with the few month old one and in with the new! This time I added some rubber waahers to help with the body flex and vibrations. Let’s see how long this one lasts.
