I picked this car up from a buddy that needed money in a hurry for a super decent price.
It's in amazing shape for a G body in my area.
There is one small rust hole in the rear floor. Other than that a few surface spots in a few places like around the door hinges and such.
It came with a decent 350 that looks usable. A trans that I don't think I can use, and a lot of parts.

This is as it was off the trailer

I haven't really touched it, just sort of went through and over it. Bunch of parts in the trunk yet.
I've been bouncing off of,
A.. Assemble, paint, and sell it.
B.. Do a cheap but semi decent build of some sort... Drag, Carver, hot rod, etc.
C.. say screw my dreams of a 60's car and build the fockin begeebees out of this one....

(A) sounds like a small profit and quick turnover.
(B) is probably the route it will go in some way.
(C) probably won't happen because as I think they're cool, I have no interest in pouring tons of time and money into a mid 80s G body.

I found a set of Ttype wheels for it already. And it's got a black and a chrome grille to choose from.
My main thing is figuring out what I want to do for an engine, and getting a trans to match. Not having a trans for it is really the biggest hurdle at the moment.

More pics when I have time later.

....all I got for now.
I've had it a while, but wasn't officially in my name yet. Got that done, so time to pick at it I guess.

First thing to do is change the heater core, and put the AC box back together. Figured I'd change the core while half of it's apart. PO started taking the box off to remove it. If I go big block, maybe I'll do that too. :dunno: I'm told BBs are snug in a G body.

Next will be cleaning up the engine compartment, and frame. Go through the wires and see what I don't need.

I'd just slap a small block or stock ls in it with a decent trans and get it up and going for cheap for now since you have all the truck projects going. Maybe a 5.3 and a trans out of a 2wd truck or car.

I was thinking maybe LS. But don't want to buy another engine. I'll use one of what I got.

One of the ideas I had was to use the small block with as big of cam as I can go with a dual plane intake. Get a converter to match and use the trans I got.
I have the pieces I need to make a D-shaft for it and just have it balanced.

That would be the quickest, cheapest, easiest way to make it fun.
I keep leaning that way. But I don't want to kill any value either.
Wouldn't be really messing anything up besides the driveshaft I guess :dunno:

I said I didn't have a trans for it but that's not entirely true.
I do have this thing that I'm told is a th350. But it's fixed yoke from a pickup that had a 2 piece shaft.
I have the stock shaft from the car, and 2 shafts from a 4x burb. Between the 3 I could make one using the lathes and such at work.

Sounds like a good plan. My buddy had an '86 cutlass Supreme in high school with a basic 383 and a TH350 trans. Just welded the frame side motor mounts to the crossmember and in she went. Fun car.

That's a TH400, and it was made for behind big blocks. :thumb:

You may be able to just remove the fixed yoke and slide in a slip yoke.

I have a Regal so if there is anything I can help with let me know. Although mine isn't stock at all anymore.

Pretty much determined RACE CAR.
Not really centered on carving or drag. Just a lot of power and some suspension/chassis upgrades.
I'm going to sell the small block it came with, and use the spare 454 when I get my truck engine swaps done.

I pulled the AC/heater box. But left all the lines Incase. I'll keep the box for a future owner.
I've seen small aftermarket heaters that are basically a box, fan, and heater core.
I'll get one and hook it up to the defrosters at least.

Edit...forgot to mention a stall converter too.

Yeah, Brian and me were having a conversation about 400s the other day and I said I'd never had one. So he sent me that pic with an LOL.
:haha:
Chit, I didn't know lol.
It should be perfect for my plans then :waytogo:

The shape of the TH400 pan is unique from below, and from the top the easiest thing to spot the difference is the 2 cast in bosses for the low band case lugs that are pressed in there.

Tell you the truth, I never even looked it over. Lol.
I do know what the pan on a th350 looks like.
But never even really looked at this trans. Just shoved it in the burb, and then took it back out and shoved it under the regal.
Just went by what my buddy told me.

I planned to check that tail shaft out and see if I can just take the yoke off. Either way it won't work with the stock D-shaft I'm sure.

Lol. I actually have to say that the most responsive and snappy engine I've ever had was an olds 403. Not sure about the rest of the power band, but it would give you whiplash with a bump of the skinny pedal.

It's came a little ways.
Now being assembled to be sold. No time for it. Need the space for a couple other things.
Forgot I even started this thread lol.
