I decided to make a better rear crossmember/attachment point, so I used some 3/8 wall 4x4 square tubing I had laying around. Also had a trailer hitch from a different truck so I got it all tacked around.


Found another 14 bolt too, supposed to go to a buddies house later and go get it.

Lol got so much crap taken apart on this thing. Starting on the frame boxing today

Got to try something to end the frame flex, it's terrible on this truck. Also have to fix the previous owners gizzarded fixes

Here's how it's sitting right now. Guess I'm blessed to have a shop with a lift, couldn't do it any other way lol.

Shackle angle looks bad, but it should flatten the spring out and be about perfect whenever it gets some weight on it. If not I have a set of 56" springs I'll swap into the back. Gonna try the 52" springs for now I like the overloads because they limit the up travel. Still going to have to lower my bump stops

Me too. It's a DIY4x kit I'm just doing the back half of the truck right now, I don't feel like pulling the cab just yet. anything is better than the flex I did have though.

Got the donor truck pulled up to the shop and cut the 14 bolt out with a torch. My buddy was multi tasking bud light and flame hatchet lol.

Picked up with the forklift and out on jack stands

And pulled all the wheels off of it to get ready for scrap. The truck is ruined and had about 10000 brown recluse spiders living in it, has been sitting in a field for bout 3 years at my friends house

The 14 bolt had never been into, spindles looked great besides a little bit of pitting. Pulled the cover and was open with a 3.73 gear. Dangit. Guess I gotta tear into it and change to 4.10 to match the front . Will be going lower later on, but trying to just get it thrown together to go play right now

Getting all of my plates burned in them gonna build some more crossmembers

Fabbed up a tubular crossmember and cut 'windows' for my bed bolts. Gonna run a bed till I get around to building a tube bed truggy style

Installed all the DIY4x brackets for disc brakes.

Got the truck sitting at ride height. Shackle angle is a little steep might swap on my 57" springs

Got the frame finished up and rolled it outside for a quick shot of black paint

Then got the bed back on it the lazy man way with a forklift

I only put 4 bolts back in the bed to hold it on. Didn't use carriage bolts because no way to tighten them with the frame being boxed.

And had to try a few flexes!!!

Helped quite a bit. Still flexes side to side but I haven't boat sided it yet. And it used to hit the bed on the cab has a good gap now and stays away from it. I'm really happier with how it turned out can't wait to boat side it

Ordered brake lines and a few other parts. I think i am going to have to buy limiting straps for the front because the shocks I have are only 14 inches of travel. I also need to extend bumpstops 4" down to contact the spring plate.


Also I'm going to swap carbs, I have an electric choke edelbrock....now just gotta build a bracket for the blazer fuel tank I have

Also I'm considering removing the overloads from my rear springs.... I left them to try and prevent axle wrap until I get a chance to build a traction bar.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have little to no replies on anything I've put on here

Keep the overloads, they help keep your springs from going negative during articulation. If you take em out your springs will w and you'll start cracking leafs (ask me how I know )
