'85 C30 now a K20 - Grandpa's Truck

ive sealed a few with cork that have been fine. i snag a thing of GM sealant from work its the best damn rtv there is. tacky ****... do the usual in the corners and then a very light coat. damn near glues the pan on. you got me thinkning tho i may try that one piece, its not to late. looks like a nice product :waytogo:

going to my uncles for final assembly of motor tomorrow. got the heads set up for my cam just have to put heads on, set lifter preload then intake and ill be bringing it home! ill have a better update by the end of the weekend..

well drove out to my uncles with full intent of finishing motor and bringing it home. was in the middle of putting the second head on and had a guy call about my craigslist ad for my dirt bike. so i was forced to cut my time short and shoot back home to show him the bike, luckily he ended up buying it :waytogo:. so in the end was able to check my valve springs and with the correct shims swap them into the darts, netting me the correct assembled height and springs pressures. then installed both heads. snapped a few quick pics with my cell and set the intake on there for ****s and gigs...

well went to my uncles today to finish the 355. discovered i bought to short of rocker studs, wrong guide plates for the dart pro 1's, and 3 of my PRW stainless roller rockers were not assembled right.... frusterating but glad i atleast cought the rocker situation before it was to late. studs and guide plates arent a big deal but i will have to see what i can do about the rockers some time this week. going back the to the place i bought them to see what he can do, if not ill have to contact them myself. this motor revamp is taking way to dang long..

Finally getting somewhere. Motor is 90 percent done, just have to finish grinding guide plates to fit then set lifter preload and seal up the top end. Motor is in my garage now so at least I don't have to go my uncles to work on it. With the help of a few friends I was finally able to get my cab swapped onto the restored k20 chassis. It's so nice to open the garage door and actually see something sitting on this chassis! Also scored an old warm 8074 winch ( predecessor to the 8274) from my other uncle. He went thru it about four years ago then stuck it on the shelf. It's going in the front of my 25ft gooseneck for now.

Thanks guys ! Feels good to see some progress. Still have to put the zero rate in the rear and the front will come down once the motor goes in.

One tank mounted and zero rates are bolted in. Got longer u bolts, just have to patch a rotted thru shock mount and I can get it sitting back down on all fours again.

I still love that color Paul, looks good my friend!

It's back sitting on all fours. Still only one tank mounted but the dual tank switching valve is mounted and the d side tank is plumbed. Steering is done and all hooked up now. I misplaced my back to poly body mounts so I'm waiting on my new kit and stainless extended brake lines to come in from ord. Then hope to get cab fully bolted on and finish plumbing the frame. I used fuel injection hose and the good clamps more for a peace of mind than anything...

Edit: dang pic is sideways..

Trans should be back from builder this week. Real cool guy, sat me down and wanted to know all about what it's going in, tire size, gear ratio, engine etc.. He is locally known for good performance trans work. Did a buddy's twin turbo dodge and that's still going strong.

Finally unwrapped the motor and finished my top end. Had to go through and grind the isky adjustable guide plates to fit. All my geometry is spot on now. Just have to seal up the intake and valve covers.

Got front calipers/ pads on and installed the ORD brake lines. Also hung the d side gas tank. Want to get shocks and finish plumbing d side tank this week so I can set the box back on. Then I only have to work at the front of the truck.
