NEEDING help asap working on a 85 k blazer with a 6.2 diesel ,having trouble with the power steering system, when turning the power steering pump locks up ,so i replaced it and still doing it,also replaced all the hoses, hyrdo booster, gear box, belt, and new power steering pump twice and still locking up ,, what do i do next any help would be appreciated thx

thx not sure how to post a video on this page so yall can get a better look at what it's doing thx again ill check that also

locking up ,the pump stops when turning everything is new even belt and pulley

Ok so at idle turning back and forth the pump will just stop spinning and the belt will slip on the pulley? Did it do this before you started changing parts?

yes,but what happen was some how they put a hole in the pump and then they put jb weld the hole and added power steering fluid in .. lil later after it started... and yes turning back and forth it does it .. i retighten the belt and put new one on and still doing it thanks

Do the wheels get locked into place? Or is this issue just with the pump?

If the pump cuts out you should still be able to crank the wheel around (though it is difficult).

I'd guess a ball joint or axle u-joint is seized up,or a tie rod maybe..something is refusing to budge somewhere..

when i have the truck up on a jack everything is good just when i lower it thats when it starts

i just picked up with a jack ,truck off key forward left and right all good ,but when truck is running jack down the pump stops and the belt still. spinning

here is a video i made its on YouTube

How loose is that belt now? If it's squealing like that it is probably stretching.

As for what's causing the initial slippage, I'm not sure. It looks like the wheel is continuing to move smoothly without it. A super loose belt could cause that, or a pump that is blocked off and unable to flow hydraulic flow could do that. Do you have any hydraulic lines that could be kinked? Does the pump stall like that when using the hydrobooster, or is it just when steering?

the belt is as tight as i can get it ,plus it a new belt and pulley, all new hoses ,pump hydro booster, gear box ,and yes if u push the brakes hard it makes the same noise

Ok, my point was that the belt may be looser now after a few rounds of squealing & stretching.

When did it start seizing up like this? Did something change?

it started after the power steering pump hole lil after that

If I'm reading this right, every single hydraulic component has been replaced and the pump will still squeal under loading from either the steering or the brake booster?

I'll hafta think about this for a bit. I'm not seeing any common links here. :dunno:

ya i dont know what to do im going disconnect the stabilizer shock tomorrow and see if thats messed up or binding ,i replaced the pump twice also thanks for the feed back and advice

The part that bugs me is it stalling under brake loading. That shouldn't depend on any other systems. The P/S part of the system could easily enough stall like that if some piece of linkage was binding. But it seems to be turning smoothly in that film clip. Not sure what else to look at.
