Well I wasn't planning on doing much engine wise until I had a new one ready(going 6.0 LQ4 or LQ9) but this thing is an absolute turd and needs some attitude. It's a GM Targetmaster replacement engine rated at 250 hp and 8.5:1 compression. Today I was doing some clean up in my basement and realized I had everything I need minus a set of lifters to give this thing some proper attitude. I have a set of 041 heads which with the dished pistons will get me around 9:1 compression paired with a Comp grind Extreme 4x4 cam. Both were in my old Blazer only with the short block that was in that it had 9.75:1 to 10:1 compression. With that combo it was a delicate balancing act to give it enough timing to be happy and be conservative enough to keep it from pinging. It should be fine with the lower compression of this new combination.

what size? got tall doors, look like room for a lift

I did the LMC relay kit for the power windows about a year ago and instead of going to the battery like they say in the instructions I went to the junction block on the firewall. I'm not a fan of inline fuses so I found this one made by Blue Sea Systems and rewired the windows. image000000.jpg

Picked up a steering wheel at a swap meet last spring that's a bit bigger than the one that was on it when I got it which felt too small to me. I cleaned up the spokes and got a new leather cover and stitched it up. Got it finished a few days ago and installed it today and then took it for a drive down my dirt road to the mailbox. When I got back I messed around on the property.

I haven't touched this in quite some time but since I had to move it to get to my trailer to move that into the shop. I decided to use it to move the trailer seeing that it's more maneuverable than the Silverado. Well it turned out to be a royal pain in the ass. It needs a distributor and carb work more than I thought.

Well finally got it into the garage. I've been suspecting the mechanical advance was either sticking or seized for some time so I rebuilt a spare I had. I'm not a fan of the AFB carb so I've been looking to swap that out as well. So I yanked the carb, distributor and plug wires and installed the rebuilt distributor, a new Q-jet carb, some swap meet valve covers and known good plug wires from my Monte Carlo. I ordered a couple pieces to finish it up this weekend and tune it in. It should run much better when I'm done.

Well I got the parts I needed and got them installed. Good news, it started right off and with some timing and idle mixture adjustments it runs. Bad news, it has a miss under load but runs better than it did with the old carb and distributor. It'll actually spin tires in the gravel now. I didn't change the plugs so I'll get some and throw them in.
