ive got a good 85 350 in my k5 and the trans is bad.
iv got an 87 k30 with a bad centerbolt 350.

i need to put the motor from the 85 k5 into the 87 k30.

will the tbi intake swap over onto the deck of the old style 350?
i can buy a new intake if i need to, but if i can get away with it somehow that would be awesome.

I do believe the whole point of the intake bolt patterns changing was due to tbi starting up in 87 as well as center bolt covers. Just use the intake manifold off the carb motor and get an adapter to bolt the tb on.

i have a four barrel stock gm intake, then the tb is a two barrel lookin thing. anyone know the manifold bolt patterns? my k30 is 70 miles away broke down. the k5 is right outside though. broke down lol.

is mine a square or spread bore?

i have both 350s, so youre saying i have a spread bore carbed intake and need the 350 tbi top side.

it will work just fine?
is it gonna be obvious what goes in the front and back ports there? venturi ports by chance lol? no idea what that means.

All you need to do is oblong the 4 center holes in the intake manifold and carefully grind the correct angle back into the manifold then you can use the 87 manifold on the 85 engine. This won't cost you anything except for the price of a manifold gasket set.

IIRC Summit Racing sells a tool for this job to make it easy.

I was just thinking that he wouldn't even need a gskt set with the adapter. The ports on that adapter are for Heater hoses.

The problem with running an adapter or even the people who install the TBI spacer is that if you're running a 700R4 trans if you don't correct for the now incorrect TV throw ratio you will cook a trans in short order.

i dont hook those up do i? just put it on between the two? is it really that easy?

im not too sure i feel comfy about drilling out anything.

the old motor will go in to the 87 truck with an SM465.

schweeet. i greatly appreciate you going out and looking for that. muchas gracias guys, im still a newb at motors and stuff. the rest im getting pretty good at.

Pay VERY close attention to this if you don't want to buy a new trans yet.

it wont have any affect on the sm465 will it? thats just got the throttle cable if im not mistaken?
