ok, after seeing the yr, I'm gonna guess this is TBI.... you need to disconnect the timing bypass.. tan/black wire connector on the ds firewall area, to set base timing on TBI, which is usually zero.. usually... the ECM advances it after that..

Hey Ryoken, Thanks for your answer !
No it's carburetor.
So, I did put the engine at TDC compression (at 0), with the rotor pointing at spark plug wire number one, and the truck didn't start. It was popping, backfiring, and making white smoke through the carb (smelt like gasoline).
So to make it start, and not die, I have to put it to at least 16 BTDC, but there's still a little bit of white smoke sometimes. Right now it's at 20 BTDC, and it works smoother than 16 BTDC. I'm abit confused because i know that it shouldn't work better at 20 BTDC than 0 TDC.
I also do remember that, after installing the cam, i made sure that the two dots were aligned on camshaft and crankshafts gears before I've put back the timing cover. So i was wondering if Compcam sent me a wrong camshaft ?? Is that even possible, or they usually double check what they send ??
