I am copying this from another forum where I have been posting this for about a week so it may read a little funny but I thought some of ya'll might be interested in the build.
Well I guess I will start my own build up thread. I am starting with a 86' Chevy 2500 scottsdale. So far it has 9" of lift, 38.5" boggers, 350 motor, 400 trans ,and 208 t-case. It also currently has a 10 bolt front and 14SF rear with 4:10 gears and gov-loc in the rear. I so far have built tube doors for it, pulled out the locked up 454 and put in a smooth running stock 350. I also just bought a 2.5 ton military truck today so I will be pulling the axle out from under it soon and working on getting them under the truck. THe ultimate goal is to get the motor fuel injected 2.5 ton rocks, 3-link front and rear with air bag all the way around, weld up the rocks, and go with a cut 44" boggers on the rear and 44" TSL's up front. I will be getting some pics of the 2.5 ton sunday.
Truck as it sits now.

Here are some pics of the duece and a half that I bought. I havent got it to the house yet but I am hoping to go get it this weekend.
The rear axle was already removed for some reason and just sitting on the frame rails.

The plan is to remove the axles, driveshafts, and t-case and haul the rest across the scales. I am gonna be selling the other rear rock and I by the time I do that I should be able to get most of my money back that I have into this truck. The guy that I bought it from got it from a auction that had in town about 2 yrs ago and he just parked it here. The guy I got my chevy from had bought one too and he was able to even get it running so instead of removing the axle out from under it he ended up selling it to a friend of his. I may just for the hell of it try to get it running and if I can then I may try to sell the motor. From what I hear a lot of guys use these motors in shrimp boats so I may be able to sell it is I get it running.
I found some parts to start the EFI conversion. I found a throttle body, PCM, distributor, wiring harness, fuel pump, and coil. I will be using a MSD blaster coil and MSD ignition that I already have. I havent got the parts yet but here are some pics I got from the guy I am getting the parts from.
Kind of messy looking but he said everything is labeled.

Also I have been thinking about it today some and I decided I am gonna go ahead and get the Rockwells ready and put them under the chevy with the leaf springs that are there already. I will be adding ladder bars to keep from getting axle wrap. And I will be collecting parts when I have the extra cash.

Well I got the 2.5 ton truck to my house. One of the axles were already unbolted and just sitting on the frame. These damn things are HEAVY!!! I had a engine hoist picking up one side and a floor jack under the other end and it still took 30 mintues just to get the axle off the frame rails. If I had a damn concrete floor it would be a lot easier since I could of just picked it up with the hoist and rolled it. Anyways I will make do. I will also be recieving my EFI parts monday and hopefully have it all on and running in a couple weeks.

Well I only got to work on the truck for about a hour today but I did get the the 2nd rear axle out and I should have the front out in the next couple days. What I did is I cut the frame right in front of the rear axle. Then I put a chain from the rear x-member in front of the rear axle and ran it over the top of the truck and to my chevy. I then finished cutting the frame and the plan was to have the front end drop and the truck flip completely over. I put some stuff in front of the front tires but it didnt work out to good and the front tires just rolled over it. So I kept pulling the truck turned sideways and rolled over on it side. So I just rehooked the chain and rolled it over.

so what you gonna do with your old tires and wheels??

For now I will be running them on the rockwells. Gonna be building some adapters to run 8 lug wheels. Then later on when I find a good deal on some 44's then I will be selling the boggers.

I worked on the truck some more tonight. I went ahaed and layed the truck back over on it side and I cut everything off of the front axle and just layed it over. Then I went ahead and cut everything off of the rear axles that wont be needing. Then I proceeding to try to get the lug nuts off. There was one of the rear axle where the lug nuts were already loose and they were backwards thread so I figured they would all be. Nope some are backwards and some are forward. I managed to get all of the lug nuts loose on the front and one of the rear. THe other rear I couldnt get them loose on one side. Also I got my EFI stuff tonight and it looks like the throttle body will bolt up to my stock intake so hopefully I wont be needing another intake. Just have to figure out what the hell all these wires do.

what about the drive shafts??

on the militray truck or my '86? The ones on the military truck I will be needing the axle ends and then I will probably be needing the t-case ends from my '86. So for now I am not real sure yet what I am gonna have to do to get the driveshaft made.

I will check with this guy I know that has bought tons of these trucks and see what he has laying around. Is he needing just the axle end flanges? If so I may have a extra one or two.

I actually thought about that today maybe someone would actually be restoring one of these. I just planned on hualing it across the scales so I didnt care about it at all. I still got the huge gas tank if you need it. I will roll it back over one night this week and see how bad the panels got messed up. I know it fold the hood up pretty good but the fenders and doors may be ok.

he really needs a set of shaft to but i will check with him..

Well I have been working on the truck off and on the past couple weeks. I started by takeing off the front clip, removing all of the a/c stuff on the firewall, pulled the dash and removed all the a/c stuff under the dash, and all of the misc. wires behind the dash I didnt need. Also removed the old fuel lines and other stuff on the frame rails that I dont need. I now have the dash back together. I also am working on getting the front end narrowed 12"s. So far I have cut the core support on both sides and got the fenders bolt back up. I still need to cut the hood to fit and get some hood pins and mount them on all 4 corners. I will not have any hinges on the hood that way i can just lift it off whenever I need to work under there. Also I am cut the front end so that I can still bolt the stock grille and headlights back on there. I am thinking about getting rid of the stock headlights though and buying aftermarkent rectangle lights to fit in the trim piece since they will be brighter anyways. I am also gonna be ordering some wire to run to the bed so that I can move my batteries back there. I need to lay out my TBI stuff and figure out what else I need for that and figure out what I am gonna do for a fuel pump. Hopefully I will have everything buttoned up in a couple weeks and I can start tearing into my rockwells. I am hopefully gonna have the pics downloaded in just a few minutes.
