Just a little update. I decided what I am doing for suspension. In the front I am gonna be running 6" lift superlift 56" springs. They have a spring rate of 420 which will be nice and soft. It will have a pretty long shackle in the rear which will be set up to give me ton of droop. I wont really be able to have much up travel at all since I am gonna be running a 49" tire with minimal(sp?) lift. The front axle will be moved forward about 4" by the time I am all said and done. I will end up with a wheelbase of about 134. I am gonna build a ladder bar setup for the front to keep from having axle wrap. It will be one single bar coming from a crossmember and then it will Y off and have 2 bar on the axle. It will pretty much be a radius bar I believe is what it is called. And on the crossmemeber end if I have enough room to get around exhaust and everything I will have a shackle up there.
For the rear I will will be running a set of jeep coil springs. I got them free from a buddy of mine who put them on the front of his blazer and but realized they were to soft so they should work good in the rear of mine. I will be running a one link set up with a track bar. Not sure if I am gonna use a bulldog hitch and trailer ball set up or just use a 1.25" Hiem joint. With the hiem joint I will have a 1" bolt holding pretty much the whole rear axle and tires. It wont be as strong as the hitch and trailer ball set up but it wont hang down as low as it either. I will just have to at it and deicde what I want to do when the time comes. As long as the truck is gonna be I would like to keep the belly flush with the bottom of the frame rails but I am gonna have a crossmember hanging down below the t-case until I get my doubler set up finished. The truck is also gonna be sitting up pretty high so I will a lot of clearance in the middle too. DECISIONS DESICIONS!!! I am hoping to have the front suspension put back together and sitting on the ground this weekend with the 49's on it.
Right now I also have no drivetraing in it. The motor, tranny, and t-case are all pulled out. I figured it would be easier to redo the front suspension while the motor and stuff was out. If I finish up early sunday then I may try to get the my TBI 454, 400 and 208 back in the truck. I will need to build a new crossmember to go under the t-case since mine got all bent up. And I will TRY to remeber to take my camera with me when I go and work on the truck this weekend. It looks REALLY bad right now.
Oh yeah and also today I order my steering. I went with PSC since he has a nwe 3X9 cylinder that was designed just for rockwells. I got a orbital valve, 3x9 cylinder, and all the stuff to mount get all of that in except for hoses. I will just use my stock pump for now and I will by a tranny cooler from the parts store for a power steering cooler. That way I can just mount it on my radiator and it will stay cooler that way. Hopefully the steering will either be here tommorow or monday!!
