1/2 ton status
SOLD!!!!
Well... I think it is time to part ways with the K30. I hate to sell it since I've got some very cool plans for it but, I just don't have the time to do them. I've had it since the May of last year and I have yet to do much with it so, who knows how much longer it'll sit. It's in Harrisburg, NC.
Specs:
350 was replaced with a 383 stroker of unknown origin (looks to be a GM performance one? I think it has Vortec heads and a GM hi rise intake)
Sm465
Np205
Dana 60, 14BFF (3.73 gears, rear has the G80 Govlock)
Pretty well stock other than the engine and the previous owner's hack jobs.
The good-
Body is pretty solid for the vintage
Brand new windshield and wipers (windshield is OEM style with integrated antenna)
Fresh Summit racing rebuilt Quadrajet carb
It's a 4 speed truck!!!! (Hydro clutch!!!)
It has hydroboost brakes!
The bad (it's a looong list but, I am naming off everything I have found)-
Could be wrong but looks like the engine could use some serious work, fuel pump diaphragm broke and filled the engine with about a gallon of fuel (I changed the oil and filter and changed the fuel pump before attempting to start it) ALSO- 6 of 8 cylinders compression tested at 220psi, 1 at 110psi and 1 at 50psi. Might be stuck rings or stuck valve, IDK, haven't looked further into it.
Haven't started it since last May when I got it onto the trailer to move it (after what I described above) but, the carb that was on it (Holley 750 double pumper) was leaking like a sieve. I have siphoned what appears to be all the fuel out of the tanks (now need to fill with fresh), replaced the carb, replaced the plug wires (the ones that were on it were melted to the exhaust manifolds), charged the battery, and gotten a new air filter for it.
Someone broke into it through the vent windows (looks to have been several years ago) so, after sitting for who knows how long with no vent windows, the carpet is growing moss. In general the interior is pretty gross, it was a pool contractors work crew truck so.... just imagine.
The usual rust spots do have some rust (but not bad) and it does have BAD rust in the bed floor due to sitting with construction trash and fill dirt in the bed for an unknown (looks to be looong) length of time. The rockers have some rust holes and some red wasps have taken up residence in the rockers.
Looks to have an electrical gremlin, the blinkers have decided not to work (did work fine) the left side now stays solid while the temp gauge (IIRC) does the blinking going from hot to cold. Also, NONE of the power windows work, at all. I've taken apart the dash to battle the gremlins but haven't vanquished them all yet so, it is still apart.
The tires need replacing BADLY!!! (well.... one seems pretty good)
The previous owners hack jobs include (but may not be limited to- I may not have found all of them)-
wiring (awful!)- I've fixed a lot of the hacking but there's more to go!
trailer hitch, goose neck hitch, and rear airbags- booger welds galore!
Comes with a smattering of extras:
Used OEM brushed stainless tailgate insert in super nice shape
Brand new generic brand stock style front grille (83-84 style since that's what the busted one that was in it was)
Used OEM grille inserts and bow tie (both 85+ style and the 83-84 style that match the truck's headlight bezels)
Used OEM heat only setup (was planning to ditch the AC)
Brand new mid grade generic brand chrome side mirrors (was planning to ditch the HUGE towing mirrors)
Holley 750 double pumper that needs rebuilt
Also, for some extra $$$ ($150) I can include:
New in box Hedman 69230 headers and new Stage 8 header bolts.
And for some more extra $$$ (I guess like $1600?) I can also include:
(6) 37x12.50R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers
(2 are brand new, 2 are 50% tread, 2 are just under inspection passable tread depth)
(5) US wheels 8 hole steel wheels (brand new, mounted in the above tires, some slight marring on one wheel due to bolting it onto the truck to test fit) IIRC they are 17x8.5 but, I'll try and find my order paperwork.
For price (just the truck, NOT including the optional tire and wheel package), I guess I'll start at $2500 OBO??? I've seen nicer trucks sell for less but I've also seen worse trucks sell for more so, we'll start there. Throw out a reasonable number and I'll probably accept it just to get my wife to stop yelling at me, LOL!
