'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Headed out to Tuttle Creek this weekend, and decided to do some maint. items.

Started with an oil leak that developed shortly after running too rich for too long. The leak is along the back of the intake by the dizzy. It is not the oil pressure port, as I have already addressed that thinking that was it. I tried to smear/shove some RTV along the edge to maybe fill in any holes.

Any other suggestions other than pulling the intake?

Other issues involve seatbelts not being bolted in. Was planning on having some harnesses by then, but that has not been the case.

I had a feeling that response would follow.

That's why I have a cage right?! So I don't have to wear them. Got it:thumb:

Picked up some free overrated harnesses tonight. Yes I know, they are 2 different colors. To be fair my interior is black blue and gray.

My buddy has harnesses in his truck, and it's just a whole different level of feeling safe. Plus, I feel more legit in my turd truck:haha:

No not yet. Going to my buddies house tonight or tomorrow to weld some on. He has a bunch of tabs I can use.

Next it was time to address and issue we all know and love, the cracked frame behind the gearbox. I do apologize in advance, my dad ended up finishing the weld-in frame patch without me being able to document much. I still am in need of the bolt-in brace, so I will post some pictures when I get around to that.
Your frame was a little worse then mine. My crack did not make it to the bottom flange of the frame channel, close but not quite. The frame patch along with the bolt in brace makes one helluva difference.

Yeah, I had no idea it was that bad till I pulled the box off:eek1:

The frame patch made a massive difference. Never did do the bolt in brace, but now I have hydro-assist and I 've been told the brace is no longer needed. But that might not be the case. Guess I'll cross the road when it gets here.

I have harnesses in my truck. I usually just use the lab belts for slow wheeling since i need to crane my head out and look around. I use the other points for road driving and other sketchy scenarios lol.

Those were my thoughts too on belt usage. I like to look outside the door a lot. Might take my doors off this weekend also. I know that helps with wheein abilities right?

Yup. Cant reach the transfer case with the belts on. Ill need to take that into consideration when i manual swap but i like the feeling of having 5 points to keep me in the seat at speed.

No doors is awesome. You can see way better and if you have to you could swivel sideways and take a piss without even getting out lol. :haha:
