'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
I guess a starting point would be a GMT800 8.1 lower hose. At least you know the bends at the pump will be right. Might have to tweak a little at the radiator, but worth a shot.

I can’t find a lower radiator hose that works.
Factory small block was too small.

Factory 7.4 liter was too small on one end and moulded wrong.

Factory 8.1 has a T in it.
If you already have the 8.1 hose, you could always put a plug on the extra line. I mean if you think that's bad, look at my lower hose. Need this for the rear heater.

Went with @Kay86K5’s idea and went with a universal hose from Autozone. Fit perfect and looks pretty good.

Yep, I read about everyone trying to find a specific radiator hose from a specific year to fit, but when I went to the auto parts store and saw those universal ones that were cheaper, I thought to myself, "screw that, I'm just going to use those" :D

Looks good!

I never understood that "I'm tripping over my own d**k to find model XX hose, when you can just buy one of those...

Yep, 1-3/4"x19.5" was a perfect fit. Just need to get some hose clamps :doah:

Not to be a dick to anybody that goes that with that universal hose...probably do it myself in the same situation. But for a guy like Larry that wants as factory looking as possible that hose just will not do.

Yeah, I understand that. I really do.
But it's not worth the aggravation for me.

So many things when I swapped the 454 into my 77 are homemade, just make it work, I`m a farmer and this is what I got right now kind of deal. :haha:

When I swapped a 454 into my old 78 way back I was lucky enough to find every factory part you would never know it didn`t come that way new.

Haha, I know how it goes. I was ziptieing and duct taping long before roadkill made it cool.

Still waiting for roadkill to make the scotchlok wiring connecter cool.....

His ocd would not let a universal hose ride for the non-factory look but also ease of getting replacement later. However two things to that, on a lifted truck you would have a hell of a time seeing that hose standing next to the truck and looking under the hood. Plus any part store in the country has the flex hoses in stock.

It's not ideal, but a very workable solution for that setup.

Absolutely!

I actually don't care for the look of those hoses either. But if I have a year to research they correct part vs. am I trying to get it running in a weekend or two.
I know that's a bit contradictory to what I said earlier. But it's all application to.
I'm trying to do my chevelle to the best of my ability and money allow, vs and if I was building a wheeler I was going to bash off rocks. (Not yours greg- just a general statement)
