This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.

That is true, more or less. And somehow I have still had more electrical failures than mechanical ones. It's easy to blame the previous owner's hack work, but I am the one trusting this truck to get me home at the end of the day. There's something to be said for properly sealed wiring. I used to think mosesburb was crazy for gutting and replacing his whole wiring harness. Now I'm finally understanding why people do that. You can't have a splice failure if you don't have any splices. Same for corrosion issues.

I will add, there are a lot of builds on here that have inspired me to slow down and do it right. But at the same time, time and money are also a factor. I'm trying to do my best work but also get this thing done. I have an event to go to on the 25th, so time is of the essence.

Motor and trans is going in, then it'll hit the trail. It will then come back into the garage for some suspension upgrades. 52's and 56's with the Fox Shox all the way around.

There is a ignition port on the fuseblock, run a relay off of it and feed a distribution block to power your accessories. The relay will have 4 wires usually, load in, load out to dist. Block, coil hot from ign feed on fuse panel, and coil neg. Hope that helps.

I had an extra spot in the fuse panel that I just put a spade terminal on. I only needed it for my CB. I'd do the relay thing though and run the relay output to a bus bar or auxillary fuse block so you have plenty of ignition feeds for stuff.
 
Have you closed your hood yet since you installed that distribution block? I installed a relay in that location and it kept falling off the bracket. After putting it back on a few times I realized my hood hinge was knocking it loose every time I closed the hood :rotfl:

That is the second location lol. The first one hit the hinge.

It will pick back up at some point. Most of my shops said they'll look forward to me returning. My boss also said I'll be one of the first call backs since I've been here so long.
 
This mornings progress consisted of finishing up the wiring loom for the constant and keyed 12v sources. Then cleaned up all the oil dry and and crap sitting in the foot well of the drivers floorboard. Man, the more I clean and dive in, the more I am reminded that a beat the crap out of a decent K5. Dumb kid.

Fuel pump mounted, and wiring ran up to the new fuse block. Truck is almost ready to start. Plugs are currently out and the cylinders are soaking in a little ATF to get rid of some surface rust that built up.

Tomorrow will consist of cranking the engine over to make sure it’s good to go, then put the plugs back in. Going to top it off with oil and coolant, and see if it fires off!!!

I will most likely have to wear a couple pairs of underwear when it starts.
