'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Here's a motivator for you. Take the weekend and come up to Pueblo and I'll let you hotshoe my 8.1 powered K5 around. If that doesn't get your ass in gear after seeing how fun they are to drive you need to check your pulse because you must be dead inside.

I'm telling without a shadow of a doubt if you really knew how fun that monster you have taking space up in the garage is to drive you would be working on it.

I'm serious, if you want to drive mine just come on up. Stay at my place and we'll call @Bent77 and get a slopper for dinner.

Heck, I forgot that the 8.1 swap wasn't done. I forgot about the 8.1!

Just leave it as is, you don't want to invest more time in it, I will just come relieve you of the problem!
:waytogo: :haha:

I would be anxious as hell to go drive that thing!

I’ll second this comment. My brother came up from CO just a few weeks ago and we took a drive in my crew cab. From a stop sign I hit on it hard while slamming through the gears and my brother (who has ridden in the truck many times before, just not for a while) starting saying how ridiculously hard that 8.1 pulls. He said a truck that big and heavy shouldn’t be going that fast, haha.

Every time I drive it it always impresses me how well that 8.1 with a tune runs

I haven’t touched this truck in 9 months. To say I am burnt out on it is an understatement. I have zero intentions of selling it, I just don’t know how to get motivated on it again.

Been dreaming and rereading my build threads the last couple of weeks for some reason. Looking for motivation I suppose.

What do you guys do when you’ve lost all motivation in a project?

I let it sit until it seems fun again. So far that's been 3 years and counting.

In the mean time I shifted my attention into other hobbies. And then, every summer, there's a sudden urge to get the truck running again so I can enjoy camping season. After that it sits for a while.

What was the question again???

That would be a great motivational time! I’ve seen pic of the slopper too… I’d be in for sure!

I’ve actually been to the restaurant he recommended for a slopper, and it was delicious!
I bet!
I can’t remember if it was Mark or Wade that posted a pic but it looked wicked!

And as far as the BB nothing is better. Even my crap makes me smile every time I start it!

Ok, so It moved. Not under its own power, but it moved.

I’m pulling this out to get more room to organize what little garage I have.

It sure is nice seeing daylight on this thing for the first time in years.

The new rollers are the old tires off my Duramax and the steelies off the 6.5.

8.1, squirrel ——> ‘75 k5, squirrel ——> 8.1 k5. Lol.

If I had more space I’d have the same problem too I bet.

Yeah pretty much lol

The current plan is to get the ‘75 running and throw some patch panels in the floor so I can drive it a bit this summer. While enjoying it a bit, I will be refocusing on the 8.1 swap in hopes of having it running before winter. Then hopefully I have a shop built and can really tear into the ‘75.

Squirrel back and forth keeping both builds fresh……..at least I hope haha.

This thread hit home with the motivation loss. I’ve done the same recently. Hope you find what you need, really wanna see this thing come together.
