'86 Jimmy 4in Lift, 40’s, tons, 8.1 Swap- 700r4 said PNNNNN

This is not a dedicated trail rig, but does trailer to the destination usually. I am currently in the planning phase of doing a 52/56" spring swap, and getting back to being more road worthy.
Got the fuel return and gauge wiring ran. I need to snag more fuel line tomorrow to run the supply.

I then mounted the skid plate to make sure everything was going to clear. I will be pulling it back off to clean and paint it.

I also decided to let MAW take over and pulled the 4L80 out of storage to start cleaning it up for install since the t-case has to come out for the reseal. It’s only 2 sensors and 3 plugs which the wiring harness already has, then bolt it all in.

Sanded down the skid plate then cleaned it off. Only did 2 coats as I know this thing is going to get some abuse so it didn’t really matter. I may find a way to beef it up soon.

Everything on the bottom side is done. Feels good to be getting back to more fuel capacity and more cargo space.

Pump and sender will be here Thursday. I should have the supply line, filler hose, and wiring done by then.

Cleaned the rear of the truck for the first time ever. Mud, grease, leaves, sticks and who knows what else was back there. Then threw down some heavy duty vinyl tape to start sealing holes for fumes. I know of a few holes that I put in, but couldn’t tell you what the others were from.

Took it on a brief test drive to see how the fumes were and then a shakedown out back. Everything seems to be doing great. Only thing left is to resolve a transfercase leak and some mild steering slop.

Pulled the t-case and clocking ring today. Cleaned up all 4 surfaces and coated them with copper gasket. Then sandwiched factory paper gaskets and snugged it down. I will tighten it all the way down tomorrow then toss fluid in Wednesday. Hopefully that either stops or at least slows down the leak.

Here’s a video synopsis from a buddy that was there. I ended up breaking both driveshafts at different times. Blew out the rear then took out the front trying to get back to the trailer. We ended up stealing the rear slip yoke and put it on the front shaft since the front u-joint blew up. Robbed Peter to pay Paul and was able to still drive it up on the trailer.

It’s a Facebook video, so I’m trying to save it and post it here so it can be viewed without FB.

So much torque, it twisted the chassis coming off the line.

Nope. Just a bad bounce and too many horsetorques.

No neutral bombs yet.
Yeah no need for too much torque, I did that with a TBI 350, doubler, I guess that makes more torque, but the bump did it on stair steps in moab, sheared of the front shaft
