86 jimmy-Bakers build

We'll I bought a used holley truck avenger 670 off eBay for $32 bucks, I installed that in place of my never happy edelbrock 600 and like magic totally different driving truck, I also took the top off for the first time in over 10 years lol, and surprise no hidden rust underneath :)

I was really happy when I went from my Edelbrock to the truck avenger. Drove like a totally diff truck. Good looking wheels too:waytogo:

Not much new lately gotta rebuild back power window setup, the cable broke and felts are dust, but I did get a new toolbox :) had a ford blue 68 epiq now got a black with titanium trim 84 epiq

Had quite a surprise today, got a call from my girlfriend saying the jimmy was peeing gas all over the driveway, I come home to gas everywhere, started looking around some, and engine was FULL of gas... I drained 5 gallons of gas/oil out of it, I took plugs out drained all the gas out of the cylinders, trucks been sitting all week, some how the gas cap I had loose got tightened, the tank pressurized and pushed the fuel thru pump filled carb float bowls up and then overflowed into engine, so new oil/ filter, after letting it fume out a while and new plugs and fuel pump for good measure. back to running fine, and I drilled holes in the gas cap :) so it won't happen again.

Where are you at in GR? I live up by Cedar Springs and work down near the airport. I hardly ever bring the K5 to the city, though. Rig looks good. Hope to see you around.

Sorry no no updates in awhile been really busy, I sold my DD and was driving k5 everyday then trans started whining and one morning had no forward gears, and when I was loading on trailer it randomly worked again, motors was down on power, I got a second hand 355 to go thru, but then I stumbled upon a great deal on a better engine, I picked up a 350 4 bolt main 1 PC rear seal, with arp main studs, big oil pan, windage tray, forged SCAT crank, forged .030 flat top pistons, edelbrock performer rpm heads, 2.02/1.60 64cc, edelbrock performer rpm intake, aluminum 1.5 roller rockers , comp cam xm270h lifters and push rods, all assembled low hours (out of boat lol). I tore it partially apart just to check it all out, and I also bought msd street fire hei, some arp bolts, etc. hoping to get it all together this weekend, tranny wise in gonna get a new filter kit, modulator, and front seal, and hope it keeps working for a lil while lol

New Box looks Awesome! Hopefully I'll be getting one someday

We'll got the new motor in and fired up, runs great, just need to re-adjust roller rockers, I tore into the trans to find out that whoever worked on it last didn't put the filter in right ( was missing spacer on bolt) so filter was just floating around causing pump to suck air, and the torque converter ended up being for a diesel so swapped In a gasser converter, so far so good, still need to get a replacement diesel radiator and put in some new body mounts and bolts I got from lmc truck, debating on a body lift what you guys think?

We'll been messing around finally got a back window back in after my regulator cable broke, I ended up swapping in a manual regulator and re felting the window slides with Velcro. I've been driving it more and more, I currently have no temp gauge, I bought a new napa sender and it doesn't work? The old one reads but isn't the same size threads as new heads, I also swapped on a road demon jr 625 cfm carb I picked up for $20 from a friend that swears it was missing parts because it was leaking! turns out floats were stuck.

Well ended up having 2 blown head gaskets, one leaking coolant into #6 cylinder and both between center cylinders, so ended up tearing motor down and putting new head gaskets in, just got it up and running again, I also installed new temp sensor but gauge still doesn't read right. Thinking of swapping in manual gauges in. I also finally got to installing my LMC body mount and bushing set, actually went pretty smooth, only had one issue with a body nut spin in the cage. I'm hoping to be able to swing up to silver lake next weekend for the first time this year.

I ended up picking up a new daily driver a 99 silverado regular cab short box 2wd lowered 4/6 with a 5.3. I bought another smashed 01 silverado that's smashed on drivers side, and I'm selling another project 90 gmc c1500 that's dropped 5/7 with a built 6.0/4l80e. Gonna be keeping motor to swap in my daily

Well been a while since I've posted k5 is taking a winter slumber, I picked up a k30 3+3 with d60, d70, 454/th400/ fixed yoke 205. I parted it out and kept drivetrain, interior and wiring, was thinking of swapping the 454/th400/205 in k5, or my buddy might have a 6.5 turbo. Still up in air tho, I kno 205 is stronger but low range is higher than the 208.

Well went snow wheeling today,. My cousin and some friends went up in the bitely/brohman area, the jimmy was doin good, till the th400 gave up the ghost. it all of a sudden only had 1st gear in every gear. RND21 all were forward 1st gear. So I'll prolly be putting my other th400 and NP205 in. Still don't kno if I'll go big block tho. It was all pretty fresh snow, found a deep frozen over mud hole, and they tried to go around another one and got really close to a tree. Here's some pics of the fun I'll prolly post some more off my camera too. It was a pretty fun day. Good thing I trailered it up there lol

Looks like fun! Sorry about the trans. Get her replaced, got some dune runnin to do in a few months.

I vote big block :D

the big block i have is all stock 86 model. other than swapping the intake and some new gaskets what should i do? cam swap? i also have almost all parts lined up to put a nv4500 and the np205 in it. id be twin sticking the 205, and using a AA adapter. but i think id prolly get tired of shifting. just thinking of all my options :dunno::D
