Duntz00 submitted a new Build:

86 k15

Well Ive been here a while and thought I would show what looking at everybodies different ideas on building our style trucks at ColoradoK5 has changed my truck into, I had already put the 4in lift and 33's on it before I became a member here. This is over a 3 or 4 year period of changing my mind on what I wanted to do to it.

Ive got a 1986 GMC High Sierra with a 305/400turbo/208, d61 open and d60 factory powerloc, 4.10 gears, 52in springs in the front and 56in springs in the rear with a shackle flip which comes out to around 4inches of lift.

Don't have any pics of when I first got her but here is the first mods: 4inch lift and 33's

I blew the spiders out of the rear 10 bolt so I swapped the rear 60 in its place and put a 8lug 10 bolt up front, both had 4.10 gears

Got alittle bit of work done today after I picked up my new sawzall, got one side of the bed cut and the bed side sitting on it. Still got to do some more work on it but this is pretty close to what it will look like.

Getting closer got some more cutting to do, get everything welded up, and need to locate a 50in piece of 3x6 1/4in square tubing to make a rear bumper out of and some 1in thick piece of still for mounts and for d-rings.

So did you "borrow" that driver door from your white truck?

Glad you decided to put the bed back on, cut up or not. Pickup trucks should have a pickup bed on them:wink1:

Someone caught a case of the CK5 swap disease, bad! Looks like a terminal case! (for your wallet that is)

Letting the springs flex past neutral like that will kill them VERY quickly, been there done that.

I'd really recommend bump stops.

Extra flex might seem awesome and all when you take pictures but I promise that on the trail keeping everything together is more important.

The white truck got a better door out of the deal, the one I took off and put on the trail rig was rusted and had dent in it so I was going to replace it anyways.

In a bad way :doah:, the funny thing is my original intent was to some what restore the truck :eek1: and then I got hit by the offroad bug an haven't looked back.

Man I would love to find a set of slot wheels for my project.

Wish I would have held on to the rims I had.:doah:

Been looking at trying to put some better bump stops on it but haven't come up with any good ideas on how to do it with out it looking like crap.

that is such a sick truck! I wish I could cut up my truck like that. I have some 40 inch hummer tires I want to put on my truck.

Been awhile since Ive posted on my build but not much has changed except for adding some dents and breaking a axle shaft in the rear d60:doah:......

I havent had the money or a place to work on it since I bought a farm and bought a new doublewide to put on the farm, working on getting the money to build a 32x40 pole barn garage....

Will add some pics when I get home and can a Mod move this to the Driveway.

These two spots look a lot like some of my local trails. Go ahead and get some lockers, front and rear. That smashed door will be the least of your sheet metal worries. Once I got my lockers it took me 6 months on trails like those before I cut the whole body off and replaced it with tube and skins:doah:

I like your build even though you started with a nice looking truck and beat it up:D
