'86 K30 Crew Cab Build

Well turns out it isn’t the shift tower causing the third gear grief with my NV4500. I picked up a new take off shift cover from Quad4x4.com, swapped it on and it has the exact same issue.

Really not happy about having to pull that dang thing out again, but it looks like it is going to have to be torn down again. Bummer.

This is just how it goes sometimes I guess, still sucks. I know you guys get it.

If you feel any better about it, I've pulled the intake on my truck 4 times, and I have to do it again

Why for?

I keep screwing up. Either the water passages leak or the rear valley leaks...

If it makes you feel better to just not be alone, I need to pull my intake too and fix a minor leak coming from the rear valley.

I'll be upgrading too...

Have a new dizzy and some twice saved Edelbrock valve covers going on when I do this...

Check that manifold against the heads. I wonder if those heads have been cut

Trimmed the fangs off my fenders. Cut them straight across in the traditional place just below the core support. The wings are just a tad short of the wheel opening so i trimmed a matching angle right where the fender is proud of the bumper. I’m going to try to get the bumper painted up this weekend.

I like your bumper!
I can't wait to get some cash together to use the file that you sent me!

Winch mounting in this bumper is tight against the radiator support. I wish I’d made 1/2” more space, but it fits. This HF 12000lb winch has a line tension doodad on it that was just touching that support. The BFH and a punch gave me the space required. You can see the clearance i made here.

Also I made the mistake of assuming this winch had clocking options every 30 degrees, not so, it actually has 36 degree spacing so my winch handle doesn’t quite line up with the slot in the bumper at any of the available clocking positions. I made a small notch the the lower grill piece and stretched the handle with some 3/8” round bar to come up above the bumper. Also clocked it so it turns side to side not front to back.

Stuck it on with some Grade 8 hardware and now I just need to wire the winch and put the cable back on.
