Thanks for the info on the motors, I really want to do a 1hk because it will be a P.I.T.A... but it will be worth it for "smiles" and giggles... The 4BD1-T looks like a great choice too I'm just waiting for the right price on one. (aka... when I have any money)

Save your money. You can`t do this swap in California, unless you are in one of the few counties that don`t do Bi-Annual smog inspections.

pre 98 diesels have 0 smog requirements. You can put anythin in em from a semi CAT motor to a 4-cylinder V-TEC.

M1009's mainly came with the 6.2, I've never seen one before with a gas motor.

I thought all of the military trucks were CUCV`s
