86' K5 Project under way!

I can almost hear it running now :woot:. I have one more coat to put on the engine, and then I will clear it. Then its time to put the water pump on, start, intake, and valve covers. Then it goes back in the K5. :D

Well I got the engine painted and cleared last night. I put the intake on before I cleared it, so that it would be easier to clean after getting it dirty.

Well BIG UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!! She's running now. After several little problems (header hitting the oil filter, dizzy off one tooth, missing coolant jacket plug, figuring out how the hell all of the brakets go back on, dead battery, and few other things) I finally got her started. Breaking in the cam with open headers is f^@(ing insane. The engine sounds great and has crazy power. I am so happy right now I could hug someone.................. almost. I still need shocks, new tires, and to finish the front drive shaft, but I can drive it around the back lot at least. I will get some pictures and videos posted soon. Right now its time to sit back and crack open a bottle and celebrate!!!!!!!!!

Well its been a long time since I had the time to even sit down long enough to post the updates on the blazer. Everything went pretty smoothly. I took the old headers off of my parts blazer and put them in acid. After dipping them in the acid I painted them. They turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. Lol.

I got a few goodies for the engine since I don't want to have to replace anything any time soon.

I painted all of the accessories to help clean up the engine compartment.

Last time on the engine stand, KNOCK ON WOOD!

Waiting to go in!!!!! So exciting.

Finally in. Yeah!!! Its funny after all the time spent painting the engine you can barely see any of it. Lol.

Shackle angle corrected itself with the engine back in.

After firing the engine and getting everything tuned I took it for a drive, to find out that the tranny shifted like ****. :(
The carb that I bought had the wrong linkage to pull the TV Cable correctly. So a call to Bowtietransmissions I found the solution. A TV Kit (cable, bracket, tv spring, and other things I allready forgot), and a wiring kit for the tranny.

So now the blazer runs and shifts GREAT! This engine really woke this blazer up. I'm sure going from 3.08's to 4.10's helped a lot too though. Right now I am waiting on tires, shocks, and a corvette governor for the tranny(so it will shift at around 5,500 rpms). Oh yeah, I also had dual exhaust put on the blazer with super 44's. It turned out awesome. I tried taking video with my phone, but when I send it to my email it loses the sound. I'll take a video with my camera later this week and post it.

Acid? Is that something you bought? Looks like it did a great job.

Everything else is looking awesome!!!!:thumb:

My unlce has a 55 gallon plastic barrel that has battery acid in it. It will eat rust off of steal in minutes. He dips engines and heads in them before sending them off to have them machined. It works great.

Well heres some more picture whoring !
I promised a video of it running, so here it is. Not very long clip and it was cold out this morning when I took the video. But it sounds good :woot:.

Here are some pictures of the exhaust that was just finished. Only thing I didn't do myself due to limited tools.

Well I just took it out to do some bush bashing, and this thing is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need some shocks BADLY:haha:. I think that I allready got rid of the tire rub LOL :D. Since I don't have a front drive shaft in it, 2 low is BADASS. Just lets me know that 4.10s are not low enough. I need to do some regearing :doah:.

is it just me or does that rear driveshaft look like inside the T-case a lot, like no more room to move inside.

or maybe that's how it's supposed to look :doah:

Looks like enough slip for a pic taken from that angle.

Truck looks good. I like it.

Thanks for the posts guys! Yeah there is enough slip, its just a bad angle. I got my rough country shocks in yesterday:D. My BFG T/A KO's (35x12.50x16.50) will be in tomorrow:saweet:. I am gonn put the shocks on tonight and rebuild the front drive shaft in the morning. At lunch I will get my tires put on. After that I'm gonna go break something:woot:!
