well its that time, gonna put a cage in the blazer but i dont know how i want it,

so could yall give me some ideas :D

i plan on keeping the rear seat and i want to be able to use the space behind the seat for my gear, and also i want it to be safe for the rear passengers but also not cluttered with tubing all acrossed the top of their heads.

and i need to be able to put the top back on of course.

im wanting just a main hoop at the b pillars back to the tail gate, nothing up in the front of the cab for right now, and if possible i want it to be removable.

i figured plates where the upper tube meets the body and the ran through and welded to the frame so if i have to take the cage out i can unbolt it at the body if that makes sense.

any pics or designes would be great, i will be taking it to a shop when i get back in march so i have a little time.

My only suggestion is to use the correct structural steel, and weld it good. No sense in doing a good design only to have it not hold up when it counts.

Well, you could check out the rollcage that I built for a friends '86 K5 in my gallery link....

It's a simple 6-point cage that bolts together at the B-pillar, so it's completely removeable. He wanted something solid, that didn't waste a lot of room, and he still wanted his glovebox door to open and wanted his sunvisors to work afterwards.

Can't make it any simpler than that for ya! :wink1:

The big thing is design, from a structual point of view. Make sure the bars all meet at the same point, if they are off than youll get a push / pull effect and itll twist if you in a roll over. Also a proper cage will be mounted as close to the structure as possible, so incase of a roll over there is less crushing effect.

thanks for the link, that kinda what im looking at. :wink1:

Here is an over built pre-runner cage. There is more cross bracing. But these are the only pictures I have. It is also tied to the frame in 8 locations. Yes it is still a 4 seater.
