Where do you get our wiring from?
tinned marine primary i usually get thru the marina..... we usually get it from Lewis marine supply...
when I'm getting XL cross-link, it's either Waytek or DelCity.... alot of the new, final harness will be with crosslink... gonna be running a fair amount of TXL, which I'll get from Waytek...
alot of the interior wiring will be standard automotive cross-link, whereas the engine compartment is mostly marine tinned primary wire...

well, I'm bored... figure I'll throw up an interesting (to me anyway) part I got this week... hopefully I have a very cool other one showing up by the weekend..
anyway, got 2 new style latches for what will be my removable kickpanel under the glovebox (breaker panel) that i've been working on... basically the kick panel goes at an angle, starting from the bottom of the glove door, down to where the floor meets the firewall.....
it basically follows the line of the console panel..
actually, that console panel now has a 90 lip at that section now, that the kick panel sits on...
anyway, anyway.... the bottom of the panel is a slipfit into the bottom of the ECM panel mounted to the firewall.... but i am securing it up by the glove door with 2 of these...
closed, flush mode....
then you push it, and it pops out to this position...
then you turn the knob 90 and it releases the latch... when you close it back up, it is another "push to close" latch like the other ones i got are... you just push the panel up in place, and it automatically latches.. then you just push the button back in to the flush mode.... actually you can put it in flush mode, then close it too....

That looks like my stock 72 latch.except mine locks and doesnt go flush.pretty cool.i like the under dash box.is it gona be open 2 the front or is the bulkhead still gona block the engine bay?
well, a pic will be worth many words in this case.... but you'll have to be patient, work is on hold till saturday, but sunday i'll be full bore again....
what's going on is this.... when i put the dual battery box in after patching the holes, basically i bolted it to the firewall, then welded the bolthead on the inside of the firewall.. effectively creating studs...
well, now that i have the box on the engineside, you really can't drill any holes on the big flat on the inside of the firewall.. nor put screws thru it.....
so what i've done is put 4 1/4-20 studs on the inside of the firewall... then i'm running nuts down to about a 1/2" "off" the firewall... a composite panel then goes on the studs.. effectively the studs are "standoffs" to keep the panel off the firewall.. this panel is where all my Megasquirt/ relay board/ datalogging components are mounted... this allows me to thru-bolt mount all that stuff...
I've also made a similar panel over on the ds, where the fuseblock used to be...
so all the megasquirt stuff is mounted on the vertical panel on the inside of the firewall... the kickpanel protects all this from "wandering" passenger feet....
you can undo the 2 latches, and just pull the panel out for access to the megasquirt board, and back of the glovebox breaker panel...
thats what i'm working on now, the smoked lexan door for the glove/breaker panel... the object of all this has been to integrate all my custom stuff and maintain some factory lines for reference... the dashpad, the glove opening and surrounding sheetmetal, etc....
it'll all become very evident as soon as i get some pics going...

Look at the first post on this build. 4 yrs ago and 150 pgs. Its the overhead console. I have spent many hrs on this build. 4 yrs? What the hell are you gonna do to/with this thing? It should be in the Smithsonian, or a museun or something! Are you going to wheel this and beat the crap out of it? I have only been around for a yr or so, and I have got a lot of ideas from you, but, when will you be driving this rig? Did I say I love this K5? You da man Ryoken!!
