thats 1" x 1/8" flat stock I added to the bottom lip of the dash.. the panel will mount on top of that with 1/2 the side tube exposed.. I still need to do the triangle in the upper left... and 1/2 that lower tube will be exposed between the 2 panels.......

saturday I get my composite, so hopefully I can start cutting out console panels this weekend... hopefully Kert can bang out my panel tabs too...

oh, and I'm gonna put an LED light over on the left, in the "ceiling of the triangular cubbyhole" as part of the interior lighting.. kinda maplightish, LCD, shifter area light when needed..

triangular cubbyhole? I am a tard..... :doah::haha:

my ex said so!!!! :haha:

a little self-deprecating humor is good for the soul....

oh, btw, 10 days, no smokes..... :D now where's that "killing spree" smilie when I need it..... :haha:

Awesome on the 10 days. Keep it up. Don't let bad occurances start you back up. Remember, toothpicks help with the oral and manual fixations. So does puddy if it's available. Good luck with it.

Interior is looking awesome too.

I keep forgetting to pick up toothpicks! :doah: i like that idea... my dentist is gonna hate me, been doing the hard candy-thing...

funny thing is, I've been able to concentrate and kick-arse at work.. slaughtering jobs... big custom system installs, etc, yet, I've had trouble doing it here at home... just this weekend, I kinda got in the swing of things in my own shop...

i'm soooooo anxious to actually start getting color on/in the truck at this point... which hopefully means I'll crank thru the last of the cab fab work... I could care less that the exteriors gonna be all spotprimed and ratty, i want the interior in "assembly" mode...

Good work on both fronts....

They say after a couple of weeks you start to get your sense of smell and taste back too. Supposedly, the smoking deadens your senses and people are amazed at how much better food tastes once they quit smoking.

Mmmmm, all this food talkin is making me hungry...is it too early for a cheeseburger? :D

After a couple of weeks of the toothpick thing, I had chapped lips and splinters. Ended up having to quit them too. But it sure did help with replacing the smokes.

BTW, I did ask God for a little help with the nic fits. Funny enough, I never needed a smoke after that.:D

no doubt I'm gonna put a few pounds back on, thats a given...... and ok and expected.. going into winter, i can lose it in the spring...

taco night!!!! :haha:

I just ordered all my mounting hardware for the overhead and floor console, side panels, etc....

in black, should work well with the black composite...

boy..... i really wanna order the LCD for mockup.... maybe I'll do it after my tube order next week....

this is the one I'm eyeballin.. the Zenarc 1020TSV... it's a 4-wire screen, as opposed to 5.. but the dimensions of this unit should fit sweet in that spot....

little more than I want to spend at around 5 bills, but I'm willing to put out some extra for what I want in this LCD... as big as I can go, in that spot... the Zenarc's seem to have a bit better rep than the Lilliput's...

Can you counter sink just the head of the bolt into the composite enough to be flush?? that'd be awesome. :D

well, I was original planning to do some flush-mount countersunks, like my winch plate...

toptube021.jpg

but that's gonna require being balls-on with the holes, welded nuts on the panel tabs AND I'm only going 3/16 on the console panels... still stiff and strong, just a tad more sane, weight-wise, fitting, etc... plus cost...

that makes it difficult to countersink em.. the bevel depth is a 1/4" for a 3/8's... but the REAL reason is, it's a little cheat for me... little more wiggle-room for the mounting... I did think about it, and think i can pretty easily go in and countersink the holes afterward, get new hardware and go flush... might work ok cuz you have the thickness of the panel tab before it gets to the welded nut..

i'll see how I like these.. tho it could look pretty sick with flush stainless ones like the bumper on all the panels...

screw it, I just ordered both... :haha: I'll decide when I mount em...

oh, the other ones i ordered, stainless countersunks.. same exact ones that are in the winch plate....

actually, f*ck it, whats a bit of extra work.... :doah::haha: I think the flush stainless on the black panels would be sexy.. kinda fighter plane-ish..

and I have other, hidden spots (the pc enclosure, cargo wall, etc) where i can use the black button ones...

Thanks Randy, think I'll go that route if I can...

hmmmm, ok, rethinking this one too... after some more reading, I really think i'd like the 5-wire... much newer, better tech apparently...

they don't seem to have a 10" 5 wire out... only 8"... the 10" would have been SERIOUSLY tight anyway.. to the point it was really messing with any mounting of the actual panel.. it would fill that entire hole, leaving very little panel showing... unless I do a custom, take the case apart, install......

so, I've backpeddaled a bit to an 8" 5-wire.. the dimension are a little more reasonable and proportional to the panel... and allows for some nice mounting points of the fiberglass...

plus it's about $200 cheaper.... :wink1:

well, hopefully I'll have as sucessful a day fabbing sunday, as I had in parts/supplies acquisition today... :woot:

mounting hardware for the panels came in last night.....

went out to Trenton this morn and picked up 3 sheets of 3/16 composite, and he threw in a bunch of angles and scraps...
