87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

you can flow it out, smooth it, etc with an acid brush or small chip brush and water with a little soap in it...

seam sealers are a good habit I learned back in the collision shop days...

Paul, after just cleaning the mud outta my junk, just keep in the back of your head when designing, and building, the clean up aspect of it. So many nooks and crannies to get mud stuck in.

Cool stuff, carry on.

changed up the frame/floor design a little in an effort to make everything under the truck more easily rinsed out and not have catchspot's for mud, etc... here's the corner I changed up... took out the small angle pieces...

stepwall014.jpg

and squared off that whole upper corner....

stepwall031.jpg

should rinse out good.....

:D:bow::wink1: ALWAYS being considered... should be pretty smooth and cleanable underneath, floor, etc...

as a body guy we where always amazed at the amount of "leaf catchers" we'd find in cars... :haha:

thanks Greg, appreciate it.... :D I've beat myself up pretty bad over the years between slamming in pools, work wounds and clean living, it catches up to me now and then...

I'm just as impressed with your still "playing" teenager games skateboarding and all, as I am with your fab skills and patience. Keep it up! I'm 43 now and wouldn't dream of boarding any more. Just riding my mountain bike up the street kicks my a$$, not to mention walking the 30 yards to my mailbox.

Quitting smoking 11yrs ago was one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I picked a date a year ahead of time, made bets with my friends I wasn't willing to lose, then did it. Smokes are damn expensive now. When I quit, I paid $9.98 for 3 packs of Marb. reds every day. That was $70 a week. Now I would be in the poor house.

Good luck when you decide to quit. Chew tooth picks, they help with the manual and oral fixation.

Can't wait to see your truck up and running. It may be worth a trip out to NJ just to see it!!

attitude of an 18 yr old, knees of an 80 yr old.... :haha:

thanks man... :D

boy ya take it for granted when your young.... I can't describe how much I appreciate every second on vert, as i don't know how much more I have left in me....

eesh, the smoking.... I'm the worst, it's my heroine.... :( gotta do it tho, it's time, I've pushed it WAY too long now...... if I wasn't a skater who busts his arse for a living, i'd be dead.. boy, that don't sound right! :haha:

it's gonna be a fubared week next week... pre-apologies to anyone i may snap at..... :o :deal:

health is definitely the reason, but boy I'm gonna use that $300 to 400 a month cash savings as a motivation... everytime i want a cig, i'm gonna order a truck part! :haha: well, maybe not :wink1: but I planned to put $150 in the truck EVERY week till April.... that'd cover a big chunk of that....

oh, Chevy305, a consistent 2 pack habit here....:doah:

Forgot about the redo of the underbody Paul, good thinking (again).

I heard said "quitting smoking is the best single thing you can do for your health"

Good luck to ya with that.

good luck on the quitting the smoking

grrrrrrrr........

:eek1:

:doah:

:wink1:

quitting makes taking a head first slam in the deepend of a pool seem like a picnic.... :haha: couple days down, eternity to go....

on a build note.... hopefully I'll have composite and tube at the end of the week... I haven't touched the truck all weekend, too busy quivering on the couch.... :doah::wink1:

HAve you thought about E-smokes? Like a Nicotine inhaler, but a little more satisfying. Allows you to slowly decrease nic intake slowly and stops altogether the tar and other bad chemicals. Its propylene-glycol (same as in IVs) and pharm grade liquid nic. My wife uses the stuff and its still cheaper than smoking regular cigs.

Try that site. Its where we get our stuff from. Has a lot of good info on there.

Good luck quitting. Looking forward to more truck work, Yours is inspiration on my build.

hmmmm, never saw those... thanks....

actually, this whole quitting thing came on quick when I felt lousy last week... hadn't considered it in awhile.... I know there's all kinds of help out these days, prescription, etc...

I picked up the patch the other day, which is helping a ton to keep the edge off... i'm kinda psyched on quitting, just gotta get 3, 4 days under my belt.. hopefully the patch will be enough to keep me from a killing spree.... :wink1:

and thanks for the build props....

i know everyone likes to see frequent updates, pics and such, but I decided to just "back it off" a tad for a few weeks (the feeling lousy, smoking thing brought it on) get resupplied, organized and slow down just a bit..

I've been POUNDING big labor and cranking thru alot of projects, getting a little ahead of myself here and there cause I'm trying so hard to get it done.. once I get a bunch of supplies in, a clean garage and a fresh perspective in a week or so, I'll be rocking again.... :deal:

never hurts to take a breather and regroup some Paul....don't kill yourself.

Start putting the money you would have spent on cigs, in a place where you can see it stack up. Might work for some motivation. Paste this on your fridge, doors, etc to remind you what it will do to ya.

Thats like trying to feed a Top Fueler with a 2bbl air cleaner.

Yep a break is usually a good thing! I have been taken a break for a while now, maybe I should get back to work on this thing so I dont have to drive my Jetta this winter :doah:

Hope quiting works out for ya man... good luck.

The combo of fabbing and smoking like a chimney doesn't do any good for your lungs...

I had to have my lungs tested for work one time and I had the lung capacity of a 35 year old (I was 20 at the time). :doah:

Another guy who's been fabbing and smoking for 20 years took the same test and had the lung capacity of a 175 year old man.:eek1::haha:

I'll admit, it was funny as hell watching him come out of the test room with a red face about to pass out, and tell me he has a 175 year olds lungs but it makes you think about all the black chit that ends up in the tissue at the end of the day.... the cancer sticks don't help either.

thanks guys.....

it's not actually my lungs i'm overly concerned with, it's my heart, blood pressure stuff... I've had issues in the past...

I had a lung test about 6 yrs ago and did surprisingly well... think thats due to the tons of sports as a teen and the skating thru my life... people have no clue what kinda aerobic workout that is...

tho i didn't do any work this weekend, i did stay busy cleaning and organizing the shop today... what I really need to do is organize my bolts, little parts, etc...

but you guys have had a life since Jan...... :wink1:

I figure i have 1000 hrs in the truck this year..... :doah: i don't even know where this year went, oh wait, yes i do, the dungeon... :haha:

eh, next summer'll be great! :woot:

thanks guys.....

what I really need to do is organize my bolts, little parts, etc...

I just did that Paul, I got a bunch of those little bins that hang on the wall, and have most every size bolt from 1/4"x1/2" to 1/2"x5" mostly in 1/2" increments....makes it really nice to go grab a bolt, washer, nut, etc.
I got my bolts at the local Tractor supply, all grade 8, in bulk supply. Cost a couple hundred to stock it, but they're always new, and clean.
