What I'm gonna do is put the front angled one in, see what I think, and go from there...
one thing I should expound on is what I mentioned earlier about the back being an after-thought... anything I decide to add, change, etc from the B-hoop back isn't a big concern... spotting/welding something back there is no big deal down the road...
it's the stuff in the cab that I don't wanna have to go back in and weld/paint around... dash, console, roof, etc...
hopefully i can finish up the cage stuff, figure out panel mount tab spots in the back, get them welded in, and start rough fitting all the composite back there this weekend...hopefully.. think I've got some pretty good ideas for that stuff...
anybody got any opinions/thoughts on the stinger/cage x bar idea?
couple thoughts on that from me... pros and cons.....
pro - eliminates that high leverage mounting issue on the "lock-in" bar on the style like dontoes.. wont have to worry about a 38 or larger tire rippin that stuff off...
pro - gives the cage an additional 2 mounting points.. I'll have an 13 point cage effectively, with 8 points tied to the frame... i'll be using greased fabricator bushing sets for the stinger to bumper pivot...
pro - will add a sh*tload of lateral stabilty to the back of the cage/frame imo..
pro - by running the stinger behind the tire I have the ability to mount the tire much lower on the tailgate if i want... improving rear view...
con - mounting the tire on the ground to the stinger might be a little harder than rolling the tire onto the stinger...... might...
con - if i leave the bars solid off the stinger, once it's open and laying on the ground, i'd have the 2 tubes sticking out in the air.. not a big deal i suppose.. just would have to watch giving yourself a shinner walking around..
maybe I'll pin both ends.. disconnect in the truck... then if i'm gonna be working around the back of the truck, etc for awhile, take the other pins out and stow the tubes...
