87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna put these in... being that rear cage flange will be tied to the frame, I wanna distribute that strength a little...

I'm such an arse... shoulda bought 1 more stick and I could do the bumper... I almost have enough now...

still need to do the 2 small, center flanged tubes for the driverside yet... and final welding of the whole back...

thanks bud.... :D

well, just took a couple hrs to clean the dungeon up.. sheesh, sh*t was flying this weekend, musta swept up a shoebox worth of grinding dust!

:eek1: :grind::grind::grind::grind::grind::grind::grind:

Ryoken's build thoughts.....

should have the cage in primer next weekend and hopefully have the majority of fiberglass panels cut..... then I can get back to finishing the floor/tunnel...

stoked on buying fenders/wells.. can't wait to section them... also ordering the clocking ring and cage tie-ins in the morn..

I think you guys are gonna dig what I'm doing to the cargo area... :wink1:

Looks great Paul. I think the tie in you have in mind is a good idea for the rear. It will help (EVEN) more to make things rigid.

yup, I'm damn happy with it, I am... :wink1:

really worked hard this weekend, wasn't feeling the best either... anyway, it's all good... :D super stoked on how the cage looks, pretty trick imo... :saweet:

but today I FINALLY decided to redo the sawhorses, down into dollies.. like I planned to do 6 months ago when i bought the 8 casters... :doah:

so I dropped the truck about 8"s or so, and it now rolls around the shop... :crazy::pimp:

once I pull the motor back out tomorrow night, I'm gonna turn it sideways in the shop, by the doors, and see how it fits/works... :haha:

I don't know if I missed it, but have you or are you planning to box the frame? I'm sure your cage is more than strong enough, I'm just curious to see what you do with the frame.

nope, no frame boxing.. i'm relying on my x-members, bumpers and cage to stiffen all that up..

I'm shootin for May... it'll be a money issue, not labor... the trans is the one that's gonna hurt... I expect that to be about 2 grand...

Have you done anything with the crossmembers yet? Are you fabricating new ones or using the stamped ones?

Awesome build, again, I am getting a lot of inspiration for when I finally track down the right K5. I keep going back and looking at your bumper build and flooring job, I love it!

You can always drop a 465 in for under $300... :deal: ;)
I'm a 465 guy myself also but that'd really mess up his center console idea :D

I say a well built 350 or 400 and it's all good. I just spent $900 on a 350 turbo and $3500 on a motor for a truck i don't even have anymore. :doah::rolleyes:
