me too....

I'm close to final priming, and color... wanna finish up the fab work first... I really need to order my harness so I can get those tabs welded and that should be it for the cage... and the grab handles too...

I think it's gonna look pretty sick with the cage painted, and all the black work....

must HAVE....... patience....... grrrrrrr..... :doah::( :wink1:

Putting in the composite panels made it look like it's starting to come together.

it does...

makes me wanna keep cranking out new fab parts, as opposed to finishing up last weeks projects!!!!! :doah::haha::eek1::doah::o

actually thats alright, as I mentioned in some other thread, I like to bounce around and touch on all aspects of the build... know what your in for at that point... boy, I've got a ton of "finishing up" to do on lots of stuff...

i'd like it to be where, when I go to paint the cage (it gets painted first), all the cutting, welding, drilling, etc is done.. do the orange, tape the cage off and douche everything else in satin black.. including the composite panels... then just be installing stuff....

so I've definitely got a good amount of fitting and fabbing left....thats also why i just ordered the twin stick and e-brake, so I can get em mocked up...

but I'm seriously stoked on how it's turning out.. the panels, the countersinks, making it more cockpit-like, than jungle gym... bare in mind too, the seats will hide that whole back panel, etc... but I've got some good ideas for the pc box... it's gonna be it's own bolt in assemble... that those side panels "fit" into... hard to explain... :o

* build ramble / end * :haha:

Dont forget cup holders...

Oh boy! Here comes the uber-cool mega/ultra/super marine gimbal cup holders so that the ice cold beverage of choice stays contained when running in BB10! :D

Sawwwwwweeeeeeeeeet! this thing is really starting to look finished.
Keep up the good work.

those are sweet!

shovel, axe, hi-lift.... 2 extinguishers too.. 1 up in the cab, 1 in the back.. so yeah, I'm definitely looking for mounting ideas....

those are cheaper than the stuff over at http://fourtreks.com/index.html

oh, and I missed the tool wall bit...

to touch on that a bit....

it's gonna be about 6" deep on that whole wall with various sized "cubbyholes"... it will also have swing open doors on it... this will be mostly for recovery gear, etc.. straps, chain, etc down in the bottom... a full length one in the middle for long stuff, tire spoons, pry bars, etc.. various sized small cubby up top for clevis's, snatch block, etc..

same kinda construction as the electronics box, etc...

Paul, I dont post much in your thread, but I do keep up with it and wanted to say that I love getting the email alerts that it has been updated. I enjoy seeing your work, appreciate your patience, and envy your creativity and drive. Keep up the good work man!

thank ya sir... :D

I guess it's my canvas... :haha:

I do love it, a million hrs of labor, but the end result makes me smile... :D this build also makes me realize how much I'd love to have more equipment... shear, brake, etc.... some day... maybe.... :doah::o

anyway... one last build note here for the night while I have it on the brain...

my intention at this point is to run a black weatherstrip edge around a good portion of the panels... give it a "soft edge" to fit nice in around the cage...

this stuff

Pinchweld we used to call it at the plant I worked at where we made it for the big 3 back in the 70's. The same type of stuff is used for the door seals on our trucks.
They have a perforated metal insert to help them hold their shape. Unfortunately that collects moisture and starts to rust, and then the seal loses its shape.
Should work good for your application though.

tho I've seen it on cars here and there over the years, what got me thinking of it was my old job resto-ing mixers, dozers, etc...

we used to use tons of that stuff... Autocars, dozers, etc...

the panels look fine hard cut.. and they are rock solid with the 3/8 countersinks in em.. it was just one of those thoughts that kept running thru my head as I was fitting up each panel.... that it would work very nice and add a little subtle detail to it...

wait till you see the interior lights I'm running..... :wink1: eh, thats another day.... :deal:
