Anyway, just read through this entire thread; your work is very thorough, carry on!

wow, deja vu.... beautiful dog... looks just like Raven did.... the females are such pretty dogs.. miss that girl, she passed about 10 yrs ago now...... one day I'll get another..

and thanks... been trying to put an hr a day into metalwork after work, and it's paying off... little by little I'm getting a bunch of stuff done...

well, being that I'm gonna be picking a couple gallons of paint in a couple weeks, reddish orange and some black...I decided to have some fun and get rid of some Imron I had kicking around, the original wrong lava orange I did the parts in and a little black I had......

this is pretty much the final mockup... then it'll get disassembled one last time, sanded and it's satin coat put on and the correct color orange for the cage... i'll do that when I put in the 2 domelights....

Hey Paul,
I think I missed the part I'm asking about.
Where did you get that black plastic piece your using to hold all those switches, CB, and Breakers? (the overhead console part)
I'm thinking of adding something similar to mine just made of aluminum or steel.

that fiberglass work looks sweet with it painted and all the switches in.looks more and more like my mack truck everytime i look and drool at your progress.

thanks boys, appreciate it...

I'm very pleased with the layout, and I think it's gonna look pretty sick when done... The gloss black really takes away from what the end result should look like...

but it gave me a good perspective on how the whole interior is gonna work, especially since the exposed tube/composite panel thing is so prevalent in the console...

trying to get the under-carriage done this weekend...

but i may break off and have some fun mocking up the rear winch bumper too...

here's a few more pics from the weekend.......

doh!!!! :doah:

and yes, all the switches have a purpose, just not all will be utilized right away.... :wink1:

How many switches will you be using anyways? What are the plans for the steering colum? Cant just be using the stock wiper controls and turn signal levers can ya?

I'm running 25 between the dash and overhead.... 9 in the dash, 16 above... there's 3 or 4 i wont be using immediately in the overhead... but the wiring runs will be in for those circuits too...

steering column is a 70's manual, no tilt job with just the turn signals on it...

wiper control is a Contura in the dash.... hi-beam will be an oldschool 70's footswitch...

I still love it when people ask what that button on the floor is for....
even better when you have a foot push starter too...
cool stuff Paul.

thanks Dave.... :D

I want, what I want... :wink1: I know some will say the floor switches can be problematic... and it does go against the floor-washing line of thinking, but I'll deal with it, cuz I like the function of it, especially in this "cockpit" :haha:

couple of build notes here.......

I've decided I may keep the lower dash sheetmetal copper to break things up a bit, like in the above pic, especially on the ps by the breaker panel... obviously that'll be a gametime decision... :haha:

oh, and that opening line? not good for my budget usually! :doah::crazy::( redid the budget last night... scary.... looks like I start working OT next week! :doah:

my buddy has the push button foot starter on his 46 chevy.its pretty cool imho.and a manual choke that is fun to try to get it started with.has to be perfect to be able to run.

btw, thanks to whoever convinced me to go with the countersunk ss allens on the panels to match the skidplate... which on another build note, I'm having done in Al right now.. hopefully I get that back in a week or 2...

the countersunks, although a nuisance to do, definitely look killer... break things up a bit too... and I love the whole DIY4X tab mounting of the panels. WAY overkill, but it has a bolt-on component feel to it, as opposed to just some screws.... me likey..... and think I'll be glad I did it down the road after pulling panels in/out multiple times...

Man, there are so many details that I miss until they are talked (typed?) about.
I just looked at that overhead set-up again and thought "MAN THIS THING IS JUST FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!"
