87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

that's tonight..... :wink1: mini ramp sesh followed by many a PBR with the groupies....

sunday afternoon is momma's house... a quite affair.... :haha:

BTW Rufus, I think it was Artzner that came up with the Zombie Squad design.

BGKYK5, You know what, I think you are correct on that one.

Ryoken, I like the idea of using one of the zombie squad stickers as a mask and the using an etch in the unmasked area. That would be SICK!

here's some shots from yesterday..

the cage is effectively done... once the floor is finalized, i'll get it and the cage in primer and color... bout freakin time...

I love the grab handles, think they came out pretty sweet...

Those grab handles do look great. I'm curious how close they are to the door when closed? I have been real undecided about grab handles because I suppose that in a flop/roll over, people would be inclined to grab on and end up with crushed hands. Will a hand get pinched between the door/handle in such a case?

not even close, worked out killer... since my A-tube is up by the A-post and pretty tight, the actual handle is back more towards the vent frame.. gotta be 5, 6" from the frame, side to side.. the cab could crush the A-pillar right to the cage and your hand would be fine...

I had actually figured I might have to angle em in a tad, but i ended up being able to run it parallel to the top of the A-tube... ton of room, and not a problem visually at all...

Nothing to add other then, incredible work   . That will surely be one of it not THE best built K5's ever . :waytogo:

for those that may have missed it earlier in the thread, that's 1" solid stock.... rosebud heated and bent in a vise.... just seemed easier than tube, and it seems to be a good grab diameter...

and thanks Josh... I have my moments.... :wink1:

Grab handles worked out sweet. They should come in handy.:D

On a side note I am getting ready to order some zinc primer and they sell zinc chromate and zinc phosphate. So which one should I use? The site says chromate for aluminum and phosphate for steel, but I think I have read you saying to use chromate..

I know little to nothing about it so any info from you would be great. Thanks

Paul, not only do the grab's look great, but that whole freakin' cage is way cool my friend....can't wait to see it in paint.

thanks Dave.... was certainly a good amount of work, but I'm very happy with it... I was originally gonna add a tube under each seat, but have changed my mind....

I'm working on the first of the 2 remaining mods on the floor/undercarriage this week.. here's what the last 2 floor supports are, 2" x 3/16th's..... I'll detail the install this weekend....
