paul,nice friggin bumper.leg healing nicely,i see..will definitely be a scar but as said ,not as bad as the 100 other stich marks on your leg.lol.i have air tools but i hardly ever use them supersize75k5.it seems almost as hard work to put the compressor out and run power and find the right gun i need then to just find a 9/16 and a breaker bar.

spent the day working on finishing up the last of the floor fab work... the 2 angled pieces up front that the wells will mount to.... should have pics of that tomorrow...


but in the meantime, I'll throw up some shots I took yesterday of the bumper final mounted....

should have a pretty good approach angle with the axle moved up...

How far forward are you going to move the axle? My project for next weekend is to move mine forward 1".

I was originally gonna do an inch.... but now I wanna go 1 1/2" if I can... help keep it out of the firewall and optimize that approach angle... I'll see how that all goes when I start mocking up the x-over, etc...

thank ya sir..... I'm very happy with it....... other than adding some offroad lights at some point, and gag, a license plate, it's done...


here's how the well mounts/support turned out.....

2 x 2 x 1/4 (woulda just used 3/16th's, but i was out and have a ton of 1/4)..... plug welded thru the floor...

once again, using the welded nut method for the wheelwell mount.... 1/8 end-plate.....

working on the other side now..... once the x-member is done, and I can pull the drivetrain out for the last time, the floor will be ready for a final sand, prime, seam-seal and paint............ thankfully........

I run TONS of 24 grit stuff, 36 when thats all i can get.... from my 2" and 3" roloc setups on right angle die grinders, like this

to 7"er's on a full size Makita grinder, like these

i probably use this more than anything... the 24 grit 7" disc are cheap, used with a rubber backing plate... i occasionally use a 7" stone wheel for heavy stuff, but not often.... i think i use this setup so often cuz of my background in autobody...


to a 24 grit on my belt/disc sander...

probably the best $50 i ever spent was on that belt/disc sander.. thing was brand new pretty much... i use it a ton for shaping, surfacing/milling smaller stuff...


one that i don't use much, that alot of people seem to like are flap discs.. i've used em, but generally on most of my stuff i find they get destroyed WAY too quick and don't cut nearly as fast as the above discs... they seem to work better for a "final clean-up" grind...

i've yet to come up with a decent way to remove carbon from sheet steel.. tube, etc comes off super easy.. sheet steel, big pain... you can see some areas of it on the floor bottom.. i've bitched about it in here in the past, but noones ever suggested something that i haven't tried... stuff freakin sucks... so difficult to come off..

i also do use 50 grits on my rolocs for stuff i dont wanna be as aggressive, fiberglass, etc... i buy bags of discs bulk on eghey...

i also DA sand a ton with everything from 50 grit up to 80 on raw steel... also hit eghey up for rolls of that...

I've used the wire wheel a few times in my 4 1/2 angle grinder. the wire seems to like to embed itself in other surfaces causing premature rust or discoloration. they do seem to work ok when there's nothing around it that can get ruined. I had a small air grinder when i first bought my compressor but humidity in my shed and lack of use froze it up. I don't think I kept it when I moved to my house. I don't think I've heard of the roloc thing. I'll look into that. thanks, and of course, keep up the good work. Any idea when your blazer will be back on the road?
