87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

Please tell me you are still under your 2,000,000.00 budget.
Do you ever try to figure out how much $ you have put into your rig?
I think about it sometimes and it gives ME nightmares.:D

now I can close the thread, I've reached my goal, Fumes is here!

I have a rough idea, but I keep way less track of it recently... it is, what it is... When I decide I wanna take a certain approach with parts or materials, it's hard to deter me...:doah::eek1::haha:

does that proportioning valve have a built in line lock?

as mentioned, no linelock... brake warnng light as a standard p-valve would have... the difference between this and stock is this is basically just a distribution block, equal flow to the 2 front and rear, then the rear is adjustable... no premetering of front/rear bias...

as to the parts.... trans mounts so i can get the x-member mocked up.. glad i waited, these things are larger than i thought... gonna be challenging...

p-valve, cuz i'm putting in the steering box this weekend... and figuring out that side of the frame..

decided on the blingy billet filter mount due to the fitting/hose combo i'm running...... picked up this one for mockup/bracket building purposes, i'll get the other 3 later..

just a little side thought, to elaborate on the subject that Fumes mentioned...

honestly, I'm pretty low budget, sadly with champagne tastes... I buy parts as i can afford them... couldn't afford all 4 filter mounts this week so i'll save that for my next summit order in a couple months... thus why it takes some time for me to acquire stuff at times... :(

and for as much as i've spent on the truck, the time, labor and effort over the last 2 yrs FAR, FAR outweighs the cash outlay in parts imo.... so for as "high dollar" as my rig may seem, I don't perceive the build as "throwing tons of money/bolt-on's at a rig"....

I look at it as highly involved customizing using quality schtuff.... :o:haha:

carry on....:D

hell of a truck dude....

Paul your build is great, just carry on. You only have to please you.

it's all good... just try to explain my train of thought from time to time...

hopefully i'll have a productive weekend.. spent a good portion of the holiday weekend cleaning the dungeon, so I'm fairly organized right now... heck, i even cut the grass! :doah::wink1:

that makes 2 of us.... :haha:

it seems I always end up doing a summit order every 2 to 4 months.... :doah: next purchase will be my L & L headers tho... that one'll hurt, 600 bones there...:doah::crazy::haha:

I'm sure you've covered it, but which ones are you going to run? I keep dreaming about owning a set of stainless steel one day... but then I think I want to go big block so I'll wait and get a set then... we'll see if either of these events ever happen.:haha:

I'm going with the L & L's with the A.I.R provision... I was really up in the air on headers for a long time.. knew i wanted quality, considered SS Hookers, Thorley's, custom route, etc... than awhile back, i think SweetK30 mentioned L & L's.. hadn't heard of em... the #'s are way better than anyone else.. flange, tube thickness, etc.... Dave (zimmer) bought some recently.

these are the ones i'm getting

The problem for those on a wheeler is how danged far they hang down. They are actually lower than the front spring lower spring eye. and about in the same area there.

They are quality though. If they made a 3/4 length header I'd like to have them too.

Just my opinion.

Later,

Buddy

from what I've seen, they hang at the same spot as any other full length header...

my biggest concern is running them into a 3" single.... I still need to lay under the truck with a beer and see how/if I can build a y-pipe of sorts with a full length header...... if i determine it really is a prob, i'll be going with a tri-y Thorley...

One thing to consider, and I can get you pics if you like, is if you are after a single 3" out then you could do a muffler like I am using. I had dual 2.5" pipes run into a Magnaflow, with a single 3" out. The shop I used ran the passenger side behind the trans case so it is high and tight out of harms way. I really like the setup so far, other than it was a bit in the way of my 205's slip yoke extension.

Edit: There are options for dual 3" in with a single 3" out, and eliminate the need for a y pipe. Just putting it out there for an idea.
