I'm thinking all copper, than hand lettering COWL INDUCTION on the sides in satin black...

Looks cool Paul, cowl induction, maybe like an old Chevelle SS script?

thanks, should look pretty cool once copper.. and yeah, I'm not certain on a font or anything... gonna do something small on the fender emblem spot too... another one that's WAY down the road....

It all looks really good.
You have got to be pumped with all the progress you have gotten done lately.
Great job!

thanks bud.... i appreciate ya noticing the hard work..... still a f*ckton of work, but been a fun change of pace actually getting to finish install components..

it seems like the further along I get, the harder I work... I WANT this thing on the road in August... if everything goes well and the stars all align (meaning my wallet), i think i can do it... :haha:

one of the reasons i didn't build anything after my Chevelle for 10 yrs, was that whole "i do this sh*t all day, the last thing i wanna do is do it at night" feeling so many mechanics get.... it's very, very hard dragging my busted up body down to the dungeon most nights, I think that's what i'm proud of, my diligence..

*** weekend objectives ****

work on the front clip mockup.. rad support and headlights.. airbox config..

hunt down some parts...

start getting in steering, suspension, etc....

paint engine..

I do under stand all that. A lot has to do with time and money to do them the way we want and not cut corners, just to got it done.

Damn this thing just keeps looking better and better.:bow: Really looking forward to watching it all come together.
It has to be a lot more motivating knowing that you are putting parts on for good.

thanks... the guys from work stopped by last night and where pretty blown away...

the hood was definitely a splurge item, but i had my reasons.. I'm definitely stoked on it... some like cowls, some don't... I love that extra 1 1/2" this one has over all the 2 1/2"er's out there...

just has that bit more, snotty/obnoxious feel about it.. but the main reason was to fit the 3 gauges in the back... whch from just the quick eyeballin i did on it is gonna work killer....

looks like i'll be mounting them to the actual cowl, and not the hood.. which is very nice for mounting/routing/durability reasons.. thats the other reason i liked this hood, the way the cowl hangs out the back...

i'll do some trimming work to the back lip for seeing the gauges, cleaner look..

next Summit racing list....

3 more remote filters for the rad support, rollbar padding, airpan gasket, 2 pedastal guage mounts, vacuum and trans pressure gauge, aircleaner lid, K&N filter, 2 $ hooker, etc, etc..

what gauges are going out there? fuel psi. and stuff like and again the whole rig is looking great!! :thumb:

oh yea be care full with them 2 $ hookers.. lol

The hood looks awesome. Definitely agree on the copper with satin black lettering. It should give it a classic sort of style with a side of bada$$ from the cowl. Can't wait to see it.

...
but the main reason was to fit the 3 gauges in the back...

Damn, why didn't I think of that. Ryoken thinks up all the good stuff.
Hey, project looks great and is an inspiration to lots of us. Thanks!

all my mechanicals are out there, other than oil... it will be...

trans pressure

fuel - eventually i'll have to change this one... I run it just about pegged now..

and vacuum

5484_d.jpg

all liquid filled of course...

inside i run fuel, volt 1 & 2, oil pres, oil temp, trans temp and water temp... hopefully by spring i'll have added stoich and possibly a pyro...

oh yea be care full with them 2 $ hookers.. lol

glad someone caught that.. :haha: mail order hookers, there's a concept...

the gauges under the cowl lip idea comes form my Chevelle days... came up with the idea, just never did it.. but i've done externals on quite a few Mopars cowls/hoods....

the 73 to 80 style would be MUCH easier to do.. and is easy to make "look good" the gauges have that "floating in blackness" look to it...

it was THE main reason i considered a sheetmetal swap up front... the hood going to the glass on the 73 to 80 is just such a better look.. as are the round headlights imo...

alrighty, dungeon's warm, back to work....

wish they made the matching valve covers for the air cleaner lid i'm gonna run in center bolt... but they don't, only perimeter....

i'd run em... oh well, painted stockers for now.. maybe some alum's down the road...

You could buy some stockers and have them high gloss powdered in the same base color ? :dunno:

It would set the topper off all the more....

this isn't something I'm overly concerned with.. just kinda thinking down the road a bit... for now I'm reusing the factory intake and vc's, and painting them...

that's kinda what started this.. eventually it'll probably be the chevy red/orange block, and alum heads on the 383... figured these would look good on that... alum heads, and a new intake at that point in alum color, i thought the red/black carbon fibers would look good on top of that... if they where available, i'd buy/run em and just paint the heads silver till i redid the mill...

but for now, the mill is going back in with the block and heads the red/orange... i'll probably just shoot the factory vc's in some fresh satin black.. maybe i'll be fancy and throw some alum paint on the intake for now... that should break it up decent...

They make adapters for SBC to fit the perimeter style to your centerbolt heads.

hmmm, did not know that... i'll have to take a peak.. wow, they're not cheap! but it is an option... thanks!
