how cool is this going to be....how you keeping the dungeon dust out of the throttle body?

i keep a plastic shopping bag over it, then a moving blanket over the whole motor when i'm not working on it.... i definitely need to pick up a little composite order... unless i pilfer the doors from the tool wall for the airpan... :eek1:  :haha:

So what holds that "salad bowl" down? Just the standard wing nut on top of the air cleaner lid? If so, what are you going do with the air pan?

Martin

yup, just a stud and wingnut... works fine on the stock salad bowl setup...

instead of the stock metal housing sitting on top of the salad bowl, the airpan will be attached to the top of the salad bowl with rivets.. then the filter will sit in a slight recess above that (to lock it all in), then lid and wingnut... should work fine...

I knew it had ghosts! :doah: :haha:

I hate unexpected expenses that take away from the build... f*ck it, I'm getting a decent tower and a nice Samsung 24' monitor next week.... the Summit order will have to wait....
A 24 FOOT monitor? Wow, I guess you really don't want to stop working, a monitor like that should be visible anywhere in the dungeon.:haha:

:haha::haha: :doah::haha::haha:

i've often thought about running a pc down there.... i just know it would get fubared tho... when the truck is "out" and i gut the dungeon, i'll probably set it up to have one down there.. as of now, i don't "hang" down there, other than working on the rig..

Looks like you are sleeping about as little as me these days..... The difference being that I'm changing diapers and you're making killer progress. :waytogo:

Keep up the good work.... It's fun to have stuff to read in the middle of the night!

:usaflag:

for the record, i had considered doing my main tube that way, but didn't like the way it worked with my removable skid... I'm not concerned with strength as the main tube has over 2' of weld to the center section of the bumper..

most wont dig this, but i wanted to see how it would look... if i don't like it, i can always reburnish it.. you'll have to excuse the crappy, spotty pic, i'm back on the old camera as i can't get the new one working with this old 98 machine..

My bumper is the same as yours. The main tube is welded to the main plate 24" across to the top plate and 24" across to the skidplate. Plus the two lower brace tubes and it only bolted on with 8 bolts. Plenty strong. I've "used" it several times already :waytogo:

I see. I thought you were going to have the air pan as part of the hood. The air pan will be part of the engine, and seal against the hood.

Martin

well, yes, and a bit of no.... :haha:

the airpan itself with the foam gasket will be relatively low, mostly a flat plate under the air filter.... mostly.. with the 4" gasket and yes it will seal up to the hood... but the hood is by far the most work... boxing , enclosing and building "down" to the gasket will be most of the work...

think of it as very similar to what a Moroso unit looks like...

oh, and i've built PC's before, but i think i'm gonna opt out and be lazy and just get a pre-built tower from newegg.....

I think he is referring to the Car PC. :waytogo:

Though a Ryoken desktop PC build thread would be awesome too... composite, polished aluminum, and 1/4" steel. :D

I was talking about a desktop this time. There are some pretty good package deals through newegg with all the basics...

my last gaming rig i built.. lian li, yada, yada... worked great till my ex-girlfriend knocked it off the coffee table... :doah: :haha: one day i'll redo it..

hey.... do they have bundle deals on guts for that at newegg? the case and power supply are good.... mobo, processor, v card, hard drive, etc all should be replaced...

someone link me to some good gaming package and i'll freakin rebuild this....

See when you say gaming rig you open it up. You need either a max budget or what kind of performance you want...
