87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

late to add in....

hey bub, gald to see you getting back to the dungeon.. Truck is coming along great... Sorry for the delayed response on topic, was late in getting notifications of feedback and just wanted to add my 2cents on your pulleys... Have you looked at Detroit Speed and at their Drive systems.. Look for the SBC hardcoat package, I personally dont care for the March setups either, their too Shiny and showy... and most every Show car/ truck either is running stock, or some sort of March pulley/setup. So back in the day, (4 years ago...lol) when building my vette, i decided to go this route, the guys at DS werent even sure if there products would even fit in an old C4. but they did, I had to relocate the steering rack forward, about 1.5 inches, but fit in as snug as a bug, looks ALOT better than OEM, and March, plus, everything bolts to block, nothing bolts into heads, keeping the look nice and clean and not distracting... just food for thought... time to ponder.... drink beer... and ponder some more....

so... I just ordered all the stuff for my airpan, carbon fiber lid, airpan gasket, etc.... I'm at that point where I need to get the glasswork done to the hood so I can get the rest of the rig painted..

anyway... I was gonna run the 6" x 14" K&N element

but to save a few bucks, I went with Summit's version instead

it's 1/2 the cost and dimensionally the same for mock-up.. I figure if it's cr*p I can swap in a K&N down the road... anyone have experience with the Summit washables? hopefully it's one of their better branded parts...

I don't know if Summit and Jegs source the same vendor (like Northern radiator) but the Jegs a/c I bought with a washable had pretty thin element gauze. I bought a K&N to use instead...let me know how that one looks.

cool company, thanks..... :D I'm really trying to get myself ready to pound the truck for the next 3 months or so... I can't believe I haven't worked on it in 2 months... :screwy: by far my longest dry spell, this spring has been brutal...

thats what i was afraid of... eh, it was cheap enough I can consider it a mockup cost... In the end I'll be running a K&N prefilter too, so maybe that'll make it last a bit...

yeah, but you have a perfectly acceptable reason.. lazy, old and pathetic doesn't fall under acceptable.... hopefully this weekend I can muster up some energy for it..

lazy, old and pathetic doesn't fall under acceptable.... quote]

Huh, I don't think that I have seen one of those attributes in the last 4046 post's in this thread. :smirk:

Keep your head up, Paul. You'll be pulling off some more awesome fab work for us to all drool over soon enough. :deal: :D

well... that really blows.... part of my order was canceled as Summit says the carbon fiber air cleaner is discontinued... wonder if someone still has one on the shelf somewhere...

jeg's just called moroso for me.... not available...... :doah:

hmmm, now I need to come up something else for a 14" lid.... maybe anodized black or red? hmmm, anodized black sounds like it might look cool.. i'll have to go look... probably gonna wanna match the vc's too...

well... one thing... it's gonna save me money.... the ac was $100, vc's $200 plus the adapters... :D

black fiberglass airpan/salad bowl... black foam gasket... black lid and matching black moroso vc's?

thoughts, opinions? :ears:

I like the idea of going black it will help break up the orange should be a good contrast like you did inside the cab. By the way great job as always

ordering this tonight......

yeah, I'm digging that one too.. kinda subtle.. think it'll look good with the whole airpan gig...

it's a Proform.... $74 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-141-692/

here it is on a motor.. keep in mind I'm only using the lid on top of the 6" washable..
