87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

it's got about an inch gap back there.. I don't expect it to be an issue with the urethane mounts all around... worst case scenario I can just cut the back lip off...

Looks good but what happens when the engine shifts one way and the body shifts the other? You're going to scratch all that pretty paint on the firewall. :)

It looks to me that theirs a decent enough space for movement on it between the lip and firewall

actually those pics make it look a little tighter than it is.. and this is certainly something I considered when building it.. I think it'll be fine, but we'll see..

Air cleaner looks sweeeeet.:thumb:. I saw a pic of you winch mount in another thread, what are the 4 billet looking things on top of the winch behind the bumper?

Yep, Hes got a filter for everything. I think there is a filter for the beer he has on tap comming out of the dash!

yup.. spin-on's for the trans, ps and 2 oil... now I just gotta buy the plumbing... :doah:

and thanks, it's a kinda different thing than ya normally see that's for sure... and despite all the voiced concerns, I really think the performance as a CAI is gonna be incredible which is what it's all about..

a kegerator! :woot: :doah:

if I was building a tow bus/motorhomey thing   , for sure... I just really have no purpose for that, the bus that is... :doah:

like a CC, I'd love to build one, I just can't justify it....

off, to grind and have a volcano eruption in the dungeon... wish I had this stuff in science class.... :haha:

so..... since I started with showing a lot of the steps on this, I guess I'll continue thru the rest of it... tho I do think it takes the wow factor out at the end a bit... anyway...

I hit the inside of the cowl with a roloc and 36 to rough it up for the foam to stick to... 1/2 arse dam mold and 2 part foam...

in the second pic, you can see where I started shaping the foam a bit....

I always wanted to shape surfboards.... the thing about closed cell foam is it sands, cuts, etc like nothing.... I'll have that all down flat, ready for glass in probably 15 minutes tomorrow with the 7" grinder and longboard... makes a hella mess tho!

I think it is going to work great also, has the salad bowl effect built in. Looks super clean. You have more patience than I do making that! :waytogo: So what is your eta to be driving?

thanks, that's the one thing about all the crazy customized stuff, it takes so long to do, ya kinda end up doing a decent job on it... if it took that long and came out with crappy quality it'd be disturbing...

I was hoping for aug/sept but it ain't happening now after my 2 month hiatus, and coin flow... so the tentative at this point is early spring 2012..

just in time for the world to end!!!! :doah: :haha:

so your going to enter this thing into a car show directly after your done with it right? then take it out in the woods and dent it up a little ;p

he!! no, I'll take some extensive pictures then I'm gonna go sink it in some goo.... :woot:

in all actuality, it'll probably see local duty to and from work, and around the marina to iron the bugs out, etc before getting wheeled... after all, a big part of the build has not only been it's wheeling capability, but it's service capability in the end... hopefully I'll at least have the York in the mix at that point...

they do do some friday get togethers locally in the summer around here... I may stop in at some point to get some feedback, but if I show up with a dent in the qrter, so be it... I think the rigs features and work speak for themselves... if someone wants to walk up and knock it for having a scrape or dent, apparently it bothers them more than me..

Amen to that.

Thats for sure. It took me an extra 2 nights to get my tranny crossmember/lowerlink mount made just this week. Painted it last night though. So is Blazer Bash in this rigs future? Would love to see it in person someday.

eh, it is stupid far for me, so it's doubtful, but ya never know.. I definitely look forward to wheeling it anywhere in the NE with fellow CK'ers tho...

thanks... :D

eh, it should be reasonably capable but there are definitely some limiting factors to it's offroad performance, stock length front springs, no doubler, open front for a while, only 38's, etc, etc...

I think it should do ok performance-wise.. not nearly as capable as some rigs in here, but decent enough offroad.. that's one reason I'm anxious to get the axles together, start doing suspension cycling, etc...

haha, just thought about it, if I park this thing downtown on a friday night, scrapes or not, I'm betting it'll be quite bemused over by the masses... :haha:
