I just thought of something. Is the trailing edge of the hood short enough to not interfere with the windshield when open? I've seen a couple break windshields when opened for the first time.:dunno:

Here's a quick Google pic of it:

I can't imagine what a pain in the arse that would be to do... :eek1: maybe if you where running a vette/maro ecm, throw in I run a mechanical speedo, etc.. I got enough on my plate... :doah: :haha:

I think the bada$$ touchscreen in the console will help ease the pain... ;) :saweet:

I think it's ok... that's something I plan to look at tomorrow when I install the springs actually... :waytogo: cuz they act as the limiters.. right now I've just been using the pivot hinges and a stick up front to get it lined up, etc.... obviously no glass, but I should be able to see how it'll be..

the only "issue" I have at the moment is that screen/frame actually will be tipped forward just a bit and in about 3/16 of an inch.. the mounting pad spots, where the 2 corners are, need to be shaved down a bit before repriming and painting... the screen will hit the vent cowl when the hood is on the way down right now..

but I can't afford primer and paint for a couple weeks, so it's no big deal at this point.

here's a couple closeups, still need to do a bit of final grinding, sanding and prime/paint it...

it'll be held in with a screw in each lower corner, which I still need to drill... (meaning, ignore the string holding it in place... :haha:)

man this rig is simply amazing!:bow::bow:

IMO it will be too nice to wheel. I couldn't, after all the work that goes into that.

BTW, your poll needs an "all of the above" option :thumb:

Very nice:woot::woot::woot:

thanks boys.... :D I think it's looking pretty cool so far...

hopefully I'll get another productive day tomorrow in the Lab again... maybe I'll go get some shrink and work on the walls..

thanks, I'm thinking once everything has paint on it, plumbed, etc, it's gonna be pretty bada$$..

the one thing I had to decide was whether I wanted the screen/gauges bolted to the hood, or actually to the top/back of the airpan.. which, technically should have been doable too...

but the way that screen is shaped, and the leverage it would have put on the airpan, I decided mounting to the hood was best... the issue there is, if i had mounted to the airpan, all the plumbing/wiring would have been fixed... now it needs to account for the hood moving.. it's not a huge deal, I've done it before, just a bit more work...

ok.... Ryoken's Lab™ stuff for the day..

I fought thru what I think is oncoming flu or bronchitis... for a guy that hasn't had a cold/flu in 20+ yr's, I certainly feel like I'm coming down with something... :screwy:

anyway... I'm not sure exactly why, but when I got my hood, I noticed they had no bolt provision for the actual spring hinge that sits in front of the pivot hinge on the 87... usually on the light, light ones, they want a light spring, etc..

as mentioned earlier, the hood was a bit lighter than stock, but not super light.. now with my glass work , I'm back pushing a sheetmetal hood weight, so I'm using the springs....

so.. little window... some nuts welded to a hunk of steel as a backing plate, and filled with resin... I'll put a glass patch on the top after...

it's http://www.usbody.com/ same company that does the full bodies, etc, out of Fla..

all it says is "steel anchors allow for use with stock hinges and latch mechanism..."

I'm guessing that the curly, and dettached, spring on these as opposed to a standard like on a first gen, makes them remove the option for a spring... whereas a first gen, you could easily get a lighter spring.. plus, it's already in the hinge..

stock springs and a lighter hood can obviously be an issue.. but like i said, it wasn't a pin on, super light race one, which they do make.. not a big deal, i knew i was gonna have to do it..

oh yeah, I'm sick.... :doah: :sign26:

f*ck it, I'm going down to put the hood back on.... :haha:

solid 2", if not 3", between the scoop and windshield.. not accounting for wipers..

oh, and next purchases for this rig.. finish the bodywork.. gal of 2K primer and 2 qrts of basecoat...

than the tube order for Mutt, inadvertantly giving me materials for this rigs back bumper... yay more fab :woot:

Looks real nice mounted. The windshield will have a slight curve to it but looks like clearance won't be a issue. Love the guages look in there.

Hood looks real good, nice work.

Hope you get better soon, this flu s**t suck, had it first of January.

yeah, I blew today off, staying home.. not in the mood to sit an unheated tractor trailer container all day doing drive services... I think doing that when it was 6 degrees out last week is what gave me this..

I'll go get some medicine and fart around downstairs for the day...

I'd love to get all the bodywork done... that's my grunt, gotta get it done, dirty, keep me busy, boring work..... get a painted tailgate installed, etc..

than that'll rev me up for the back bumper... think I have some pretty cool ideas for that.. thats the fun work... :woot:

Looking good, Paul. That hood is pretty badass. :waytogo:

Sorry to hear about coming down with the crud. 20 years is a good stretch though. I'm lucky if I can make it every four months without something coming into the house. Kids, I tell ya. They can bring home some evil chit sometimes. :doah:
