87 K5 Build...Hmmm, whats that Ryoken up to? stay tuned...

I feel for you, when I painted the buggy there was so much pearl needed I almost threw up.

Love the attention to detail as always. Everytime I catch myself going too crazy on details I remember what's going to happen the first time I take I out or try to think about all the trucks I've had to throw away in the end:doah:

Love it:thumb:

alrighty, here's how this stuff will sit till the fall when I get into wiring the rig up.... I left the breakers out till than... I'll be pulling the panel back out to figure out the edge-lit lettering panels anyway.. it'll also get another column on the left too...

one of the best things I ever did was build that blast cab.... f*ckin thing is a godsend...

one of the last things I wanted to do before the bedliner was install the gas fill cover I've had kicking around that I never put in after the floors and qrters....

it was all skanky with a fair bit of surface rust....

5 minutes in the cab, not so much anymore... ;)

thanks bud.... :D

it's amazing how handy that blaster is to have around... here's one...

I found this nice large metal square on the ground in our marina about 5 yr's ago... it was WAY WAY rusty, had been outside for months..

so I've used it for yr's, but was barely able to read the numbers, so basically I used it to check square..

last night I thru it in the cab....

I think back over the yr's at all the stupid brackets and small parts this would have helped on and kick myself for not having done it yr's ago...

I actually expect it to be a HUGE help doing Mutt's bed, blasting carbon off tube pieces, etc...

back to the K5...

hopefully I'll be rolling some Al's in a couple days...

That's awesome! Now I want one.

Can`t wait to see the Al`s

Man I gotta give that a go....just having them sit in the garage for years mine have taken on a rusty finish that I never felt like messing with...I would cuss it out every time I used it, then put it back and never do anything about it...one thing I like about my electric heat and A/C in the shop....**** stays real dry in there!

yes...I surely could've used a blasting cabinet....have you tried glass beads or other media yet?

nope.. I've been very happy with the scat blast stuff I bought from TP with the parts.. pretty aggressive... it works VERY well and leaves about a perfect surface for primer, etc... albeit pricier than homo depot playsand.. it's fresh, so I doubt I'll change it out for a while..

when it's lived it's life, I'll probably throw some 0 or playsand in it to see how that works... the cab works pretty amazing tho and media will just change the grit surface..... I figure it's a $1500 to 2 g cab that I built for $500...

the next week will be kind of bittersweet, being the last build week for a while... I'm happy with what I've gotten done this winter on the rig, and am very motivated on it actually, even tho being detoured by, and a bit saddened by, Mutt's tubebed for the immediate future...

but the pilfering Mutt put on it, and maybe just a bit of souring from the reception the build has received on some fronts from the forum, have really hurt the incentive, I will eventually finish the vision I had in my head... :deal: just glad the health front is allowing me to focus on Lab work again...

seems if I had put a stock 2-tone job on it and a bunch of stock looks to it, maybe some rallies, it would have been better received around here, but whatever, i'll build what I want in the end...

maybe true hotrodders, fabbers will appreciate it in the end, but I'm honestly not holding my breathe... should have just thrown a bunch of rusty stock parts and bolt-on's together with a rusto job and flogged it thru the woods like everyone else...

Meh, everyone has their preferences. I think even the guys that wouldn't go the direction you're going with their rigs appreciate the work you've done to it and the skill involved. Maybe we're just not always posting up when we like something.

I know for me that sometimes I feel like a broken record sometimes so I'll just leave the praise to someone else (not just your build) but it doesn't mean I'm not impressed. Not all of the decisions you've made are ones I would make but what the hell does that matter? I know you can fab circles around me and I think it's fun to watch none the less. I've learned a ton from several threads around here even on builds that I would never want (that goes for too nice to too beat :) ).

When someone asks for opinions I try to offer my perspective but otherwise I try not to be a buttinski.

Keep on, keepin' on bro. Your stuff is amazing and appreciated even if not all of us would go the same route. :thumb:

*edit* just for some perspective, I don't have the time to keep up on all of the different build threads. I religiously watch just a few. Both of yours are on that list. :)

that's an awesome reply, thanks man, seriously... and I understand, I truly do... :waytogo:

it's just a, trying to convey that understanding of the "I'm a mechanic, bolt a bunch of stuff together.." mentality I see often... the chicken point of view to my build... ;)

I can do that build.. I've done the "all about function" builds for yr's... I built eleventy hotrods/rig's with that mentality.. I understand it better than most... my mopar yr's taught me that...

this is just something different.. and sorry, it's harder.. more artistic, than ANY of that stuff I had done previously... the amount of labor is stupifying.. I think a few in here could probably testify to that..

and when I perceive it as being poo-poo-d as some mallcrawlerly, worthless showtruck kind of thing, it get's... I don't know.. annoying...

and for verification.. I understand, and appreciate how this place works.. lack of replies, etc, etc..

but I also know the people around here who have an appreciation for what I do, and the members who NEVER reply, and honestly, have some sort of, disdain, for the labor I put into different aspects... the "that's stoopid.. building some crazy glovebox door, stock is fine" mentality...

I would post up more if it had rusty parts.... :tongue1:

:D

Lookin good brother. Sad to see her going under the sheet for awhile again., but pretty excited to see the tube bed, tho. :pimp:
