87' Project Pete (WWIP)

Exterior was put together last summer of 2024 and I continued to work on putting the interior together which to date is still pieced together with random parts.

Learned a bit about hydraulics to build a 2-line wetkit. The company I run for we pull live floor self unloading trailers.

Wekit Included installing a PTO the transmission
The first pump I installed was too small and I had to purchase a new pump
Mount a used a hydraulic tank behind the sleeper.
Have hydraulic lines made for pressure and return side and install a pressure bypasd valve.

I was actually pleased how well it turned out. After about 6 months running it daily the hydraulics have worked great except I need to replace the old tank. It's formed a crack and drips slowly.

Most of the issues I've had running the truck daily this year have been minor. I've had to replace three of the rear inner axle hub seals.
The air powered clutch fan went out.
Replaced the air compressor

And this week I replaced the driver door. The original door formed cracks and since the mirror mounts to the outer shell of the door this ment my mirror kept vibrating worse every day.

Next project on the list is replacing the 36in sleeper with a 48in sleeper from a 2012 Peterbilt. This will get me a bit more space and I'm going to be adding air ride to the cab.

Did you change the seals before or after the brake shoes got soaked?

two of them before it got bad, the last one i didn't catch as fast because the trucks been so muddy.
i'm guessing these rears sat for a few years at the salvage yard and the seals must have dried up even though they are low miles.

Jumping ahead to my current project. Few months ago I picked up a 48in sleeper, next size up from the small 36 I have now. Gives me a bit more space and this one is odd a 2012 with complete good interior which is great because my current one I had to gut the interior. It was trashed from mice. Also with swapping on this newer sleeper I'm going to be adding air ride to the cab/sleeper which should be a huge ride quality upgrade.

After doing some body work this week I finally got the new sleeper painted up ready to swap on. Easy peasy right? So much to do for this project

I feel like my 72" condo sleeper is not enough, I guess I am spoiled

How long are you out in it?
I'm mostly local with one to two nights at the most out.
Oh I quit driving in 2019 but I was OTR 12 years coast to coast first 4 years then California to Colorado for 3 years then I finally got accounts locally the last 5 years so I was home every day
