'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

It does have an Oring on it, but it might have some grit/sand/dirt/corrosion in between the housing and the speedo adapter. soak it with some lube type penetrating oil, and twist it in a clockwise/counterclockwise motion.
Looking good Jeff!

Thanks fellas. Got it out. Will order a new gear tomorrow.

And the Tranny is in. Tom(bradshawtech) helped a lot. I bought all new bolts for everything I took off. Still need to hook up all the wires and links and stuff, but its in.

Also Tom needs to weld new bottom shock brackets for my new rear Bilsteins and my hydro assist tie rod end.

Pics to come.

Need to clean lore and get everything buttoned up. Back to beatin this bitch up soon!

Can the rear seal be done without tearing it apart or does the "cone thing" have to come out? Mines leaking like a b****

I got my new rear shocks, But I need to redo the bottom mounts. There is only like 3 inches od travel.

Is this OK to mount my tranny mount crossmember with the spacers on top of the frame. Dont see why not.

I also got a rebuild kit for my input steering shaft.

Yes it ok. But with spacer between it you will reduce your drive line angles. I have 1/4 plates between mine to lower it. It's an old rancho transfer case lowering kit.

The spacers are made to be on top for more bolt stretch length to stay tight easier. Spacing it down will angle the transfer case back more, which could help the rear dshaf but hinder the front one. I like to leave it the way you have it.

Have you dropped your rear suspension? Maybe you don't need to lengthen the shock mounts if it won't droop more than that anyway? Hopefully it does droop more...

I also plan to lower it by 2" for a total lift of 8". I have to shackle flip. I just need too work out what springs to use. I will also be doing some :hack: to the wheel wells!

Just picked up my new driveline. It will be the nicest part on my rig. Glossy! It is bigger than my old one. Its now 3 1/2" Ans 53" long. Also 2 new 1350 Spice life joints. The driveline is .083 thick. Dont know if thats good or not. $205.44 out the door. $50 for 2 joints, $25 for the tube and $125 labor.

I asked them where my old red one was, and the guy went to go get it in the back. He came back and said they cut it up!!!:angry1: He new it was going to be used as a spare. Well, now they are going to retube that one also. For free!!! Pick it up on Monday. I was pissed a little.

The new shaft.

I got to work on the rig for a about 4 hrs. this weekend. I got the tranny completely buttoned up. Just need to add fluid. I also got the new seal in the T Case. looks ok. I tried to install it but what a friggin joke that was. Trying to bench press that up 3.5 feet and bolt it in my myself. No way!!

Had to buy a new starter also. I was thinking about buying one anyways. I had my old one installed and hooking up the wires. Well, The little wire, I guess I got it too tight. Broke the nut off. Im now going to put a bigger wire from the battery to the starter and from battery to the Alt. I now have a 140Amp Alt.

Id be nervous of seeing that shock boot coming out the back side. It looks like he can sit there and play instead of just eating like my mutt.

What brand wheels are these.

I have no idea. They are from Les Schwab. 16x8 or 10 . When I moved from Nor-Cal to So-Cal, My rig wouldnt fit on a trailer. So I had to buy some 35s with these just to fit on the trailer. And they are around 12 yrs old.

Hope this helps.
