'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

NO SH!T....he shoulda took them kids out of the car before he went in there...just plain stupid.

between the 12 and 13 second mark on your vid, there is a bunch of red in the "mad wave" that comes out from under the truck. Im betting thats when the leak started. My bet is the cooler lines or possibly knocked the dipstick tube out.

Thanks! I will check that out ASAP!!! I haven't had any time to get under there. Thanks again!

Well, I was under the Burb looking for the tranny leak and couldn't tell where its comming from. Its not comming from the tranny lines or dipstick. It could be either from the pan or it might be comming from the bellhousing cover.

Also, I did notice a noise comming from the oil pan AND the passenger valve cover. Shiet! Its a new motor. I was on it pretty hard, but crap. I have Tom(Bradshawtech) comming over to look at it for me today. I know its under warranty, So, no worries there, But, Crap!!

Clean the tranny and pain all off with brake cleaner and then watch to see where the leak is coming from, start it up if you need to.

Hope your motor is OK, first thing I would do is remove the valve cover and inspect all the rockers and pushrods, valve springs, etc. And run through and make sure any rockers aren't too loose if everything looks good.

Tom wants to look under the valve cover today, What about the oilpan. What could be loose. He welded the pickup on the oil pump, so it cant be that. What else would make noise down there?

Thanks!!

Well that depends, is it a tick, a knock, grinding, rattling, squeaking, what kind of noise?

As for what can make noise down there, you probably don't want to know, it could be as simple as something vibrating against the outside of the oil pan, or it could be a spun rod bearing knock, or oil pump gears, loose converter bolts, etc. "a noise" doesn't really narrow it down very far! :D

If you want to hear it better get your self a broom stick or 2x4 with clean cut ends if possible, a couple feet long or so, and put it up against the oil pan, and put your ear up against the other end. Don't laugh, it will surprise you.

It a tick on the bottom and a very fast tick on the valce cover

It a tick on the bottom and a very fast tick on the valce cover

That seems odd since the cam and valvetrain operate at half of crank RPM. Unless you have more than one valve ticking and sounding like one ticking faster. Good luck, hope you just find a loose rocker or something, if it's loose, take it off and figure out why, make sure it's not cracked or split, and inspect the pushrod to make sure it's not bent, roll it on a flat surface. Make sure both pushrod tips are smooth and round.

Sometimes a loose manifold/ header bolt or blown out exhaust gasket makes a ticking sound that sounds like it's coming out of the valve cover. Since you have been jumping that big red sumbeach you may wanna look there.
Nice rig, nice thread-I'm subscribed.

I've had a welded pickup come loose, so don't rule anything out:doah:

Just for some giggles, I will post a vid I made of my friend in his Jeep ZJ. There was a bunch of people meeting at this one spot. Trevor couldn't wait, so he was just messin around when he got stuck. He had his wife and 2 kids in there, kids in car seats. When he got stuck, I put the kids in my Suburban for a hr. while he got extracted. It was cold, and the video is shaking a lil bit. There was a lot of water in the Jeep.

Time to pull out the gun and put a hole in the floor!

Hey fella's, haven't posted on my build thread in what seems like forever. About two months ago, we moved into a new house. Its 26 yrs. old, but new to us. Haven't had but about 4 total hrs. to work on the rig. I have been slowly collecting some things to go on the burb though. I bought a new Smittybuilt XRC12. I also have Kert building me a A-Bomb front bumper ( I will have it next week). I bought a set of Tantrum rocklights. I also picked up a TBI spacer from CFM-Tech. They say 15hp. We will see. Also today I ordered a dual battery isolator kit from Painless wiring and a in cab winch panel from 12voltguy. There are a few more parts I am forgetting right now, But I wanted to at least post something for now!

Well, I got a little free time to do some fabricating. I suck at this. I dont have many tools to work with, but I did my best. I got a incab winch control switch from 12voltguy. Pretty nice. I started with this microwave to use for the stainless.
